We have just spent a wonderful afternoon at this cafe and the beach. The beach is the only natural beach on the island with beautiful black volcanic sand. It is a small winding footpath approx. mins go down to this restaurant and beach, but it is absolutely worth it. the beach is unattended and the water can become quite rough, depending on the flut (waves crashing and between two cliffs...faces) but what a feeling! such a small sandy beach at the foot of a great lunch stop restaurant. they had a varied menu, but we dropped on a pre-lunch of sorts (it was a stop of many during this tour days). we had starters and drinks: lapas were grilled here delishes (maderian seafood on a half dish with garlic butter and served with lemon mmm). also white and red sangria and local beer enjoyed. also gigantic blue slurries were available for children.
I spent here in the januar a glorious hour on the lonely beach. I sat on the steps of caffe (in winter locked) and slashed my lunch package in isolation and heard the waves crash. it is fantastic landscape and a beautiful minute. they go away from the big labye on the road above.
We always visit restaurant prainha when we come to madeira. monica and manuel are so friendly. eating and drinking is mainly the fresh fish limits, otopus and other local caught fish. the beach is sandy, volcanic gray not yellow and the...sea swimming is safe. popular with local and tourist. try it for you!
This is a quiet sandy beach with a great fish restaurant. manuel and monica treat everyone as friends. popular with local and often overlooked by tourist is a great place to swim, sunbathing and eating the fresh fish dishes, which are perfect on the menu good beer and cheap wine.
Worth taking the bus from Funchal to this lovely little bay with black volcanic sand beach. The restaurant is simple and the owners Manuel and Monica are friendly and helpful. The food is freshly cooked and well presented. On a sunny day this is a...perfect place to enjoy life in Madeira
