I had the shrimp and grits shrimp were great. Over a grits cake with a cream conecuh sausage sauce. Delicious! Wrapped up with the hot toffee cake. The food was great and the server was personable and attentive. View all feedback.
What Bama Born334 doesn't like about Sterling's:
The waitress and manager was very disrespectful after getting our order wrong. Tried to correct it and still had an attitude while walking away from the table. Bad service and management. Will be taking my service else where. Ms. Barbara was drinking while working on the clock. Accused us of ordering a steak and leaving. Get it together. The only apologetic one was the bartender. Everyone else needs correct training. View all feedback.

I can’t lie…I left hungry and pretty disappointed. Since I was in town on business with tornado recovery efforts, there weren’t many restaurants open and no delivery services running so I opted for the in-hotel spot even though I couldn’t find their current menu online. (I always read menus ahead of time because I don’t eat meat so I look for vegetarian options — or seafood at least. Unfortunately, there were not many choices for me. The server told me the soup was a gumbo so I asked if it was seafood gumbo or if it was meat. She said yes, it was seafood. I ordered a bowl with a side salad and a lemon drop martini. The martini was served quickly in a collins glass, very tasty. When the meal came out, I was dismayed to find out that the gumbo was actually chicken and sausage, so I could not eat it. I was definitely disappointed in that but had basically nothing else on the menu to order. (I will say, I’m a NOLA girl…and the gumbo did smell deliciously made so give it a go if you eat meat. The side salad was standard, but certainly didn’t fill me up. They did take the gumbo off my bill without me asking, which was very nice. $28.10 after tip for the side salad and martini. One last very small thing to note: they only give you a handwritten receipt which I wish I would have known as it makes my expense reports for work trickier. Overall, the service was prompt and polite. If you eat meat, give it a try…but vegetarians and pescatarians, I wouldn’t visit again.
I ate here before and the food was good. However, today I had to call the place 5 times until I asked for the manager and she stated that the kitchen had no phone, the phone was out of reach in the bar and that the new menu was not online and that she would send me one via text. I never got it. I have family here from out of town and was going to place a large order with a big tip but I guess the hotel has plenty of money and said to hell with us wanting to order. There needs to be a half star rating because it is just that. Not a good look for out of town visitors to ask about this place and can't even order from it because the place and phones are disorganized.
Excellent food and service. Nice little eclectic resturaunt
