Poke Lover - Seattle
Poke Lover
Description
A lively U-District poke spot invites diners to build customizable bowls from a wide selection of fresh proteins, bases and free toppings — including uncommon options like eel and smoked salmon. Generous portions, reasonable pricing for the area, and friendly, prompt service (sometimes with complimentary miso and flavored water) pair with a modern, clean, Instagram-ready interior and large tables for studying or groups. Drawbacks include occasional menu inconsistencies after hours, limited composting options, and a few isolated reports of post-meal illness.

I had a fantastic experience at this poke restaurant where you can customize your own mix of ingredients. Everything was fresh and thoughtfully prepared, and the sauces added a delicious touch. The service was prompt, and as a nice bonus, I received a complimentary cup of miso on my first visit. The restaurant itself is modern, clean, and has a welcoming atmosphere. Prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are generous. Plus, the daytime manager is particularly friendly and kind!
The restaurant was quite clean and well-organized, but unfortunately, I felt ill after having my poke bowl. They offered a wide variety of options, especially compared to many other poke places I've visited, but I found that my experience at Poke Lover didn't quite measure up to some of my previous poke encounters.
As someone mentioned, there were quite a few options, making it intimidating for first timers. I went there at night and they seemed to only have 3 carb options (pasta, white, and brown rice) when they advertised a couple more. Ordering a bowl was a bit like building a Subway sandwich, where you could select your proteins, toppings, and extras. I was pleasantly surprised to see the variety of toppings, ranging from avocados to mangos to Japanese faves like hijiki and furikake. Contrary to what others have said, the items looks pretty fresh to me and you can get as many or few toppings as you would like, free of charge. The service was friendly and patient. There is also free flavored water and cups in the store. The only thing I didn't like was that their garbage options were limited and they did not have a compost bin even though they had recycling and garbage bins. The price was expensive in an absolute sense, but reasonable for the location. I thought the portions were good. I have recommended it to friends and I would go again if I were in the mood for poké.
My first time having Poke so I can’t compare, but I loved it. It was a good sized portion, and I got to pick all the things I like to put in it. They also had this cute swing and flower wall, and my friends and I played Uno while we ate.
When you walk in you immediately notice the size of the restaurant and it seems bigger than it looks from the outside. It has a modern feel that is similar to a Starbucks. The large tables seem like they would be good for studying for their non-busy hours. I stopped in here the other day while in the U district and I really enjoyed the food. This is not the traditional style poke, but more of a make your own poke bowl restaurant. They have several types or rice to choose from and even salad for people watching their waistline. They also have many of the normal protein options, but also some that you don't find very often such as eel and smoked salmon. Finally, the food is priced well for the amount of that you get. You have the delicious taste of fish and also some rice to keep you full for the rest of the day. I think you can get as many toppings as you like so you can have it just the way you want it. If you like poke you should try it!
