What Eriberto Langosh dislikes about Pine Box:
Went to The Pine Box with a friend late at night for a drink. The place closes at 2am and by 1:30 they were blasting heavy metal and literally telling people to leave. I understand having to deal with drunk people often but the woman that works there was extremely rude to the customers. If you decide to go, make sure you leave way before closing time. I’ve been to this place twice, one pre-Covid and once again recently. It’s great to know they’re still open- it’s definitely one of the coolest bars I’ve ever been to. Not too crowded, but still busy enough, great drinks, and yummy food. Bartenders have all been super nice and the place just feels cosy. I suppose that’s odd for a former mortuary, but who knows- maybe the ghosts just really endorse camaraderie and good beer.
Rude young female bartenders with the glasses made rude comments about our top as we went after we already begin unfriendly and rude with us. She claimed to be the manager, but that's doubtful. Tip P. was marked on the reception as a server, but not sure if that is it. Used to enjoy this place, but difficult to get back after such unnecessary attitude and lack of customer service. Has not been welcomed by this server as a person of color.
That's one of my favorite bars. Great drinks and great staff. Super cool story to be a former mortuary. Celeste is the best!!!
Always have a good time here. The atmosphere is so cool, the covered patio is a great place to catch a game on the big screen, huge beer selection and great cocktails, and the music is always on point. Thanks for keeping your customers and staff safe!
Nestled in a transformed funeral home, this vibrant bar offers a unique atmosphere complemented by an impressive beer selection and a solid food menu. While the ambiance and outdoor patio appeal to many, experiences with service can be hit or miss. Some guests have reported unwelcoming bartenders, particularly during peak hours. The food, including standout pizzas and nachos, has garnered praise despite occasional order mishaps. For a lively night out, plan to arrive early, especially before closing time. With reasonable prices and a cool vibe, it remains a beloved hotspot in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.

This place is surprisingly fantastic. The staff is attentive, the food is delicious, and the history is interesting.
The drinks were excellent, with just the right amount of strength without compromising on flavor. They were also accommodating enough to create a custom drink for us that wasn’t on their menu. The fresh-baked cookie, which was gigantic, was absolutely delicious! The bartenders were attentive and knowledgeable, even taking the time to share some interesting history about the place, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we will definitely be coming back!
Great bar! I can’t wait to try the pizza someday. The cheesy garlic flatbread was incredible. The prices are also very reasonable.
So there are four things that make this place as good as it is. 1 The atmosphere is undeniably cool. It 's loud at times, but the vibe works. The building was originally Seattle most famous funerary chapel (and it 's on Pine Street, get it? and they like to play with that fact a bit. Notice all the pews and artwork? 2 The staff is killer. There 's a distinct punk/metal look like you 'd expect in in Seattle, but my God are they friendly and patient. That said, there are occasional runs on the bar, so as a courtesy, read the beer list before you get to the front and always tip well (round up from 20% . I like these guys and I want the best people to stick around. 3 The beer list. It 's not just IPA, but they 've got that covered too. They are very picky about their beers and they use very short lines to tap their kegs so it always tastes as intended. They keep at least two ciders (usually a sweet and a dry , and they 've got a reasonable bar without any real focus. 4 The food is a little more exciting than you 'd expect. They 've got a proper pizza oven here (and being a former funeral home, you might wonder what else that oven was for and they make some impressively rich pizzas. These are the 14 not-quite-New-York-but-definitely-not-Chicago sort of pizzas you see a lot of in the PNW. Theyve got some tasty nachos and sandwiches as well. If you bring your pup to their covered porch in the summer, let the kitchen know. They might bring your pupper some bacon. Now for the cons... Parking is basically the same thunder dome situation you see everywhere on Cap Hill. This place is popular and you might see long lines for the bar on weekends. They move quickly so long as everyone follows etiquette. The music can get loud in the main area. It 's a Seattle bar so... At least it 's pretty good music. Food advisory: When they use the word garlic on their menu, what they really mean is GARLIC! . But can you blame them? If there 's a bar for vampires, this is it. Since you 've read this far, I can tell you that the not-so-secret VIP area is up a crooked set of stairs behind a curtain to the right of the bar. Its pretty sexy up there.

This place has a great atmosphere, with an intriguing hint of creepiness. The tap list is impressive, and the food is tasty, especially the pizza. I visited on a Wednesday, and it quickly became crowded. It's clearly a popular spot!
The beer selection was excellent, but it seemed like we encountered the bartenders on a bad day; they were unfriendly to the point of rudeness. I plan to return for the beer, and hopefully, the staff will be in a better mood next time!
The food here is consistently good and offers a unique selection. I've always experienced friendly service. The atmosphere is nice, located in a lively part of Seattle. The restaurant also has an interesting history.
Good selection of beer coupled with a good bar menu. Staff was excellent and friendly. Jay was outstanding!

I didn't eat there, so I don't know how the pizza is, however my experience was perfect! I sat at the bar and chatted with a few others who also sat at the bar. I absolutely love the theme and the building is beautiful! Service was quick and friendly. My glass of wine was decent and not too expensive. I'll definitely go back! I will start that this is cool place! You walk into an ex mortuary and hear papa roach last resort, it’s going to be good! PS if you don’t know who papa roach is no problem, but the music gets better. Don’t be put off if you only like hip hop or kpop . You’ll learn look Seattle craft beers are not cheap, you pay for the fancy names and the craft. That is why Seattle keeps producing so much great beer and great choice. If you want bubbly bland tasteless mass produced American beer go to somewhere else. Pine box is a taproom, so many choices Westward and down Idaho CO IPA is 7.2% , citrus and hazy but if it’s Seattle summer 30degC (not sure what that is in degF it’s the beer you want. Hefty Alice from Portland is lighter, more a session beer but perfectly likeable. Seats are comfy at the bar, staff are friendly, yes the beer cost is higher than you’d like to pay (as per most bars in Seattle but you could sit at home and drink a supermarket bought craft beer in silence !! Option number 2 is get out, drink a choice of 42 beers on tap plus a vast choice of spirits and wine and listen some good music , have a life and realise there’s more than tv! Obviously the westward down was stronger than I thought, post slightly longer but walk home will be a breeze pine box is an oddity but that’s why you’ve got visit, you’ll love it.
