Description

Marmite in Capitol Hill offers refined French‑inspired cooking, standout cocktails and a curated wine list in an intimate, beautifully designed space. The chef’s counter and open kitchen create a lively yet hushed atmosphere perfect for brunch, romantic dinners, or special occasions. Dishes like scallops, roasted pheasant, sturgeon, quenelles and mushroom tart earn praise for flavor, while thoughtful pairings and fresh cocktails shine. Expect higher prices and modest portions; service is generally warm and personable but can be slow at times.

My wife and I had a fantastic dinner at Marmite. The decor was splendid. The staff were amazing and the food delicious! A truly amazing dinner evening. We’ll come back again for sure! This is an unknown gem in the centre of Capitol Hill.

Best I ever had. Staff, atmosphere, and food were incredible. The owner/chef, Bruce Naftaly, is a legend and generally a good guy

Made a reservation for a rainy Sunday brunch and walking in, you're greeted by their bustling chefs counter just beyond the open dining room. The restaurant is intimate but not small and everyone spoke in almost hushed voices really setting the tone of the experience. Once seated, our server provided both cocktail and brunch menus giving us a few minutes to decide. We ordered the mimosa which had a little bit of a wait because our server was busy freshly squeezing the juice for it (I can never blame the wait for that and we also started with the Bread plate (highly recommend and the chicken broth to share. The table ended up ordering the French toast to share (fluffy but with a crunch for a perfect bite paired w a compote that really complements it, highly recommend the rabbit and slaw (loved the smoky flavors! the smoked salmon Benedict, mushroom tart and potato gnocchi in walnut and sage sauce. If you're looking for great food, personable service, in a beautiful space. Definitely check this place out!!

The restaurant had a very pretentious vibe. The service left much to be desired; our waitress either ignored us or the place was simply understaffed. The bread was stale, and the entrees did not impress me. Given the prices they charge, I expected a much higher quality experience. Overall, I would rate the food a 2 out of 5.

I had an exceptional and delightful meal on a beautiful day in Seattle. The quenelles and mushroom tart were outstanding, and the service and overall experience were top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant.
