I'd been wanting to visit for quite some time and finally braved the no-reservation policy. I was hoping things would be fairly chill early on a Sunday and luckily I was able to snag two seats at the chef's counter around 5:30 with no wait. There was a considerable line when leaving and a friend dined here a few weeks back and had to wait 90 minutes for a table. So, plan ahead! The chef's counter was great. It was cool to watch the team work and honestly, the seating was more spacious. The tables in the dining room are very close together. You might leave with new friends! We started with the labneh and homemade pita. The flavor on the pita was great but I would have preferred it to be a bit more charred. The labneh was perfectly zingy! The medjool dates with air-dried ham was a very tasty dish but some of the dates were cold and crunchy. They definitely weren't consistent throughout. Unfortunately we really disliked the meatballs. They fell apart and turned into more of a ragu that just didn't work with the tomatillo in my opinion. They also needed more yogurt to balance out the richness. The ash-roasted sweet potatoes and the wood-fired parsnips stole the show. By far the two best dishes we had.The service was attentive and overall I thought the pricing was quite fair. One dip and four small plates ran $70 plus a bottle of wine on top. All the larger plates were in the $39 range but enough for two. Also kudos to the waiter for giving us basically two spoonfuls of their raspberry sumac sorbet to cap off our meal. Overall we had a nice visit and look forward to returning as their menu changes fairly often.
Went here for a friend’s birthday dinner and everyone loved every dish!! ?The hosts were very sweet and friendly the atmosphere was really fun!The starring aspect of the restaurant is its food!!The pita bread was fresh and smelled heavenly of freshly baked yeast based bread! We tried the set of 3 spreads they were all yummy! I really enjoyed the celeriac cashew dip. Apart from that our group of mostly vegetarians tried the ask roasted sweet potatoes, grilled beets, kumquat, wood fried parsnips(without the roe) one more dish I can’t remember the name of. Each dish had very unique flavors and really celebrated every ingredient that went into making them you can taste and appreciate all the flavors coming through! My favorites were the sweet potatoes, grilled beets and the kumquat dishes! I especially took a shine to the Kumquat one I’ve never tasted anything like it! ??I’d also recommend trying their soft serve, which seems to change every 2 weeks. I tried the vegan raspberry one and it was pretty yummy! My recommendation is to go with a group of friends/family so that you can share the food and try different things as the dishes served are more family style!
