Nestled in the heart of Seattle, this trendy Vietnamese restaurant offers a cozy ambiance perfect for large groups. Diners rave about the thoughtfully crafted menu featuring standout dishes like the flavorful Bo Kho and elegantly prepared pho that feels like a warm embrace. While some experiences were marred by order mix-ups, such as dietary restrictions being overlooked, the overall vibe is fun and inviting. The service is consistently friendly, and the innovative drinks like passion fruit lemonade are crowd-pleasers. Despite parking challenges typical of the area, this spot remains a beloved choice for delicious, satisfying meals at reasonable prices.
Co Ba can comfortably accommodate fairly large groups, offering an atmosphere that’s both cozy and trendy. The menu is impressive, but unfortunately, we encountered a few issues with our order. One guest who identified as vegan was served an appetizer containing dairy. Although they didn’t inquire about every ingredient, they clearly expressed the need for a vegan dish, so it was surprising the waiter allowed them to order the tofu lemongrass banh mi without mentioning that the special sauce contained dairy. Another person asked for the shrimp banh mi without pâté, yet it arrived indistinguishable from the shrimp banh mi with pâté, posing a problem for dietary restrictions. Additionally, the shrimp banh mi had very little shrimp—around four pieces per sandwich—which makes it hard to recommend. However, the fries and accompanying broth were excellent. If I return to Co Ba, I would definitely choose something else from the menu.
The food was delicious and inventive. The spicy eggplant was a particular favorite! Food: 5/5
If you’re looking for a great place to eat near Queen Anne—whether you’re visiting Seattle Center, catching a hockey game or concert at Climate Pledge, or checking out the Space Needle—Co Ba is probably your best bet. The food around here can be pricey and underwhelming, especially near Tourist spots, but Co Ba offers elevated Vietnamese cuisine that really stands out. As a Vietnamese American, I know some might hesitate, thinking "elevated" means less authentic, but frankly, I dislike the stereotype that Vietnamese food has to be cheap or low-end. The food here is tasty, with all the classic dishes you’d expect: pho, rice plates, vermicelli bowls, and banh mi. The banh mi even comes with fries and a bowl of pho broth on the side. One surprise for me was their salty lemonade—a nostalgic childhood favorite that's rarely found because of the time it takes to ferment the lemons properly. If you’ve been here, let me know your thoughts, or if Co Ba is now on your list after reading this!
Parking is a little hard at this place but is pretty typical when it comes to Queen Anne. Very attentive and friendly customer service. Price is typical like everywhere else. The food overall is pretty good with a lot of flavors. I had bun bo hue. Is notvery authentic but had a nice beef broth flavor. The Kumquat green tea is very refreshing and good. Recommend giving their drinkmenu a try! Check them out if you are in the area!
Wow! This is pho with finesse. They craft their food with a touch of elegance and a pinch of extravagance. Our passion fruit lemonade and basil mint lemonades were incredibly refreshing. The chicken lettuce wrap starter had amazing flavor in thestir-fry. The crisp lettuce and garnish perfectly cleansed the pallet for the next one. Finally we had the beef rib and steakpho (which you can see there are two giant ribs), we well as the oxtail and steak pho. The meats were fall-off-the-bone and thebroth felt like a mother's hug. The prices are more than fair and the staff were all friendly and helpful. Please eat here.
