Seems this... read more We went to the Seaton Hotel for lunch today. We have been regular diners at the hotel for a long time now. However, today was a real disappointment. Seems this week they changed their lunch time specials board and have done away with the roast carvery. They used to have the carvery, serving either freshly roasted lamb or turkey, available for lunch on Thursday and Friday. Today however, all we could have if we wanted the roast was turkey, brought from the kitchen. We decided to try something different from the specials board, my partner having the fish and chips, which he said was okay. The chips were good, the fish was nice but the batter quite oily. Being a cold day, I chose the Beef and Vegetable Casserole, the meat was chewy and it was quite bland with only a couple of pieces of carrot and, I think, potato in the onion gravy. The mashed potato was okay, but all in all it was a disappointment. The hot vegetable bar was as good as it usually is. The meal price has been reduced from $14 to $12.90, but it no longer includes a glass of beer, wine, or soft drink. It didn't matter to us not having the drink, but I did hear a few people remarking about the lack of it. Also there were a few remarks about the missing carvery. What we once thought was an excellent place to go for a great carvery meal, sadly has gone down in our estimation. We certainly won't be such regular customers any longer.
