Seaside Candyman
Seaside Candyman
Description
A seaside candy institution known for an enormous selection of salt‑water taffy, jelly beans, chocolates, peanut brittle and a 48‑flavor ice cream counter, plus playful touches like taffy tubes and a prize wheel. Friendly, helpful staff and reasonable prices make it a beach‑trip favorite, but inconsistent freshness, occasional out‑of‑stock items and reports of poor order accuracy and unresponsive customer support have left some visitors disappointed. Expect variety and nostalgia — inspect purchases for freshness before leaving.

A classic place to visit on a beach trip. A ton of salt water taffy choices. Not the most aesthetic of the beach candy shops but definitely up there in terms of variety at least. I end up going every beach visit so that counts for something. I like that they have sugar free taffy.
We usually vacation in Waldport once a year, where we enjoy delicious taffy, caramels, and chocolates from a candy store on the Newport pier. Recently, my wife took a special trip to Seaside with our daughter and returned with some taffy and my favorite, white chocolate-covered caramels, from Seaside Candyman. Unfortunately, both the taffy and caramels tasted stale and were far too hard to enjoy. It was a letdown and really not worth the price.
I was really looking forward to visiting this famous store for some saltwater taffy, but it ended up being a disappointment. Although many places sell saltwater taffy, I specifically wanted to try it from Candyman. Unfortunately, the taffy I got was stale and crumbled easily. They even included a note suggesting that you microwave it to improve the texture, which shows they might be aware of the issue. However, the flavors were not appealing at all. I bought a variety bag that was prepackaged, but I’m left wondering if a pick-your-own option might be better. Overall, I'm just really disappointed.
I just got home with a couple of pounds of taffy from this place, and I must say it was very old and stale. I strongly advise against buying it, as there are many better choices available elsewhere. This is the worst taffy I’ve ever had, and I ended up throwing it away.
Buyer beware! Seaside Candyman is selling stale candy. I spent $39 on saltwater taffy as gifts on September 21, 2022. After trying several flavors, I discovered that all of them were stale and rock hard. When I returned to the store the next day, they refused to issue a refund, claiming that all sales are final. I've been a loyal customer since I was a child, and it's disappointing to see them sell such poor-quality candy without taking responsibility for it.
