Used to live across the street a decade ago and frequented this place. Nothing has changed and that was perfect. Almond crusted shrimp was the wife's favorite back then and it was just as good now. The chowder brought me back home. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner
Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Recommended dishes: Chowder Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Free parking lot
Wow, this place is no longer a classic. I went in for breakfast and was really disappointed. The chicken and waffles were lacking; the chicken was small, chewy, and flavorless, and the waffle was worse than frozen. The crab cake benedict was so subpar that I considered sending it back, but I ended up giving up on waiting for my waiter and decided to save room for a nice dinner instead. I expected smaller portions due to the current economy, but on such a slow morning, I didn’t anticipate lackluster quality and service to be equally sluggish. The local atmosphere now just feels outdated.
It's a great local gem that has been around for a long time. The food and atmosphere are both enjoyable. It's definitely worth making a stop for lunch or brunch on the weekend. The best way to visit is by boat!
**Parking:** It can be a bit challenging to find a spot during lunchtime due to the nearby businesses. **Service:** Dine-in experience. **Meal Type:** Brunch. **Price per Person:** Approximately $10–$20. **Ratings:** - Food: 5/5 - Service: 5/5 - Atmosphere: 5/5 **Recommended Dish:** The gravy is a must-try! **Parking Options:** There's a free parking lot, but it may be somewhat difficult to find a parking space.
This restaurant seems to have mixed reviews, with some diners finding the food disappointing for the price, while others appreciate the consistent quality and friendly service. Some dishes, like the pancakes and beef stroganoff, received negative feedback, while others, such as the pies, shrimp and grits, and Almond crusted shrimp, were highly praised. The atmosphere and service seem to be appealing to many patrons, with some pointing out the local charm and cozy feel of the place. Overall, it appears that this restaurant has its ups and downs, but may be worth a visit for certain menu items and a welcoming dining experience.

I've been here with my family many times. that was my grandmother's favorite place to eat. I have not disappointed the egg sandwich 5 this time. the only bad thing I have to say about it is that our waitress took a while to return to us every time she left. my brother has chicken teeth, my tante has the chopped burger steak. my sister has garneled the children alfredo. my mother got the clam chowder and 5 garlauch parmesean wing, and jeff got the chicken fried steak.
Great food and service Highly recommend visiting for brunch
Went to this place strictly for the pies and they did not disappoint! Had the peanut butter, coconut meringue, and pecan pie w/scoop of Vanilla blue bell ice cream. Peanut butter was my absolute favorite!! So glad we found a spot close by Kemah that could satisfy our craving.
Very consistent service and food over the years! I think they've gotten a little pricey, but the food is always good so I'll still give 5 stars. Great local place with super friendly wait staff!
I've been going to the Classic for 20+ years. Great food, fair atmosphere. My favorites, fish tacos, liver and PIE!

Food is really good I always enjoy it! Barservice was very slow, but the girl was friendly.
My husband brought home a cake that was absolutely delicious. Visited person for lunch today and served the best shrimps and gres I had in my life. I have eaten shrimps and grits in several of the most expensive restaurants in Houston and they do not hold a candle for this restaurant. I will definitely come back, but it will be impossible to try something else. Our waitress was great and really sold me on that plate. I don't like tomatoes and she said they were cooked in the sauce, which was perfect for me.
Are you listening? I love this place! it is cozy and local and there is a little hidden secret in which I cannot reveal? but do we say the locals go and hang around for hours? the only reason why my rating is 5 stars because I ordered a shrimp pool and I was upset when the garnels were?t golf garnel because I?m from louisiana and I was so excited to get nawlin's poor young bread? just to be jealous of my daughters who had gulf garnel in them? Why should they do that? the brot was delicious? and the buffalo chicken sled we had as an appetizer was great!
Great for prime rib on Tuesday and Thursday. All menu items are great. Come for yummy homemade pies!
Food is really good I always enjoy it! Bar service was very slow but the girl was friendly.
