I had been eying this place for a while because I love BBQ but I hadn't found a place that offered the flavor profile that I was looking for. This brisket is my favorite in Cincinnati. The crunch of the crust, the tenderness of the meat. Perfectly seasoned and not salty, ugh I'm so happy. I enjoyed the street corn but I think it might be a little misplaced as a side. It definitely belongs with a taco? Maybe if the co... View all feedback.
I have two things in common with Meatson's Barbecue. Hale from The Land (Cleveland) We love some good brisket. Meatson's is not quite a food truck but a mobile grilling/catering business finding hungry crowds seeks good bbq around Cincinnati. I was able to enjoy a brisket plate while they were stationed at Fibonacci brewing. I knew they were going to be there, but didn't know if I would be ordering. Well, until I walked by the carving station and saw that hot, moist, smoked brisket. I had to go for it and what a great choice. THAT BRISKET WAS BETTER THAN BBQ JOINTS WITH A BRICK AND MORTAR! They left some fat on for flavor, but just enough that was edible along side the meat. Nice seasoning, smoke flavor and pairs great with a beer. The last place I recommended for bbq, we left completely underwhelmed with some dry brisket that needed to be soaked in sauce. (Somewhere in Walnut Hills) I will gladly redeem my recommendations Cree with this place. Maybe at another brewery. The brisket can stand on its own; sauce optional.
When I arrived to pick up my food, I was warmly welcomed by Chris and Katie, the owners of Mattson BBQ, who were both incredibly friendly! I sampled their brisket, ribs, housemade sausage, street corn, pickled onions, sweet pickles, and slaw. Each of the meats was tender and bursting with flavor, and the brisket had a perfect smoke ring. My husband and I devoured everything! It came with BBQ sauce on the side, and being sauce enthusiasts, we always add sauce regardless of whose BBQ we're eating. I know some say BBQ is best enjoyed without sauce, but that’s not the case for me. Even if it were award-winning and a president’s favorite, I’d still add sauce. *Sorry, not sorry* :p All of their sides are homemade and delicious. The corn and slaw provided a nice crunch to the meal, bringing a fresh and bright contrast to the hearty meats. Everything complemented each other wonderfully, making for a fantastic BBQ feast. My husband and I were genuinely impressed with the BBQ, and the housemade sausage was packed with flavor. Overall, make sure to catch Mattson at one of their pop-up events. You won’t be disappointed!
I've had my eye on this place for a while because I'm a big fan of BBQ, but I struggled to find a spot that offered the flavor profile I was after. This brisket is hands down my favorite in Cincinnati. The crust has the perfect crunch, and the meat is incredibly tender. It's seasoned just right—not too salty—so I’m absolutely delighted. I also tried the street corn, but I think it feels a bit out of place as a side dish. It really seems like it would pair better with tacos. Perhaps if the corn were smoked, it would connect the two dishes in my mind. Nevertheless, both the corn and brisket were delicious, and you can bet I'll be back for more!
I visited @Humble Monk Brewery, where they were operating through their food truck. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, but it was absolutely delicious!
