We have wanted to eat at Bernstein since it opened, but it was always full when we tried. Reputation said it was a very trendy place with great fries. That was not a ringing endorsement to us. We finally found a seat for lunch. I tried a pasta dish and my wife a regional specialty. The waitress was unable to answer basic questions about the entrees and then forgot the soup. While we waited, we took in the atmosphere.... View all feedback.
What Denise Bouvet doesn't like about Bernstein:
This visit was rather ordinary. We had a Flammkuchen as a starter. This is one of our favorite dishes, but the preparation was and taste that gives the simple dish its zest was missing. For our main courses we each had a stuffed baked potatoes. The key to this dish is the selection of the correct potato. Went for supper with friends. Very clean, good selection of wines. Food varied with a range of specials. All palettes catered for. Very reasonably priced.
Full service and great food. Just try it you'll like it. I had the curry the wife had the Kartoffel Puffer und bieder wären lecker.
The standard baked potato has a crispy, flaky skin that is akin to eating a croissant. What we got were two large potatoes with soggy skin. Despite the two decent fillings, the dish was a major disappointment. Add this to careless service from a staff more interested in chatting with one another. At 23€, it was not worth the price.Still, this restaurant can please you on occasion. It is just that you never know what you will get.
Food and prices of medium level. Nothing special, but in line with the bill that you pay for. The environment is good.
The Bernstein is a nice place to have a great meal. They have seating inside and outside. The service was pleasant and the food was very delicious.Their menu has a great variety to choose from. Even if you just want to have a few drinks, they have plenty of non alcoholic beverages, beers, and wines to offer. If the weather permits and seating is available, sit outside to enjoy the atmosphere. There is a parking garage right across the cafe/restaurant for immediate parking. The Marktplatz (town center) is seconds away. Walking distance to everything. Seating outside is sometimes limited and in direct sunlight without umbrellas. Sometimes traffic will pass right by you. Other than that I enjoyed the experience!
