What Oretta Pellegrini doesn't like about Pina's Voyageur Restaurant:
We settled on this place because we couldn't find anything else.It is pleasant enough and the food was OK but not anything special.I had a club sandwich and my wife had quesadias.Portions were large and the waitress was friendly. The décor is pleasant enough but keep in mind that this place is a typical roadside restaurant. Ate dinner here in September. Food was good tasting & generous portions. Service quick and friendly. No liquor licence.
We were doing a Circle Tour around Lake Superior and stayed at the adjacent motel(The Circle Tour). I"d eaten here before and enjoyed it. 6 of us went in and ordered pizza. It was delivered quickly and was very good.....and more than we could eat. But, we all drank root beer, because there was no beer. I'd heard that perhaps it had just changed hands and the new owners had not yet gotten a license. If that is a fact, I hope that they get it quickly. This is a very convenient place to go in Schreiber....literally "full service"......food, motel, gift shop and gas. Plenty of parking. One other tidbit of information...at the time we went, we were advised that bears were roaming thru Scheiber at dusk.....one more reason to have beer at the Voyager so that we don't have to wander around town, eh?
While the exterior may not be very appealing, the excellent service and generous portions more than make up for it at this hidden gem of a restaurant. The tomato alphabet soup was a bit lacking in flavor, but the Greek salad topped with spiced chicken breast was a big hit. The half-sized portion of the salad was still a satisfying lunch option. The sausage burger and Caesar salad were also highly enjoyed by the group.
This restaurant has been a staple in our community for as long as I can remember. It holds a special place in our hearts as a piece of our history. The food, service, and atmosphere have always been top-notch. However, recent changes in ownership have led to a decline in quality. The staff are doing their best, but the new owners are failing to properly stock and maintain the restaurant. Many community members are upset about this decline in standards.
We were recommended to dine at Rossport Restaurant, which didn't look very inviting at first glance. However, the kitchen and service were both excellent. The fruit pies were also outstanding.
