What Lidia Ulloa doesn't like about Hungry Moose Restaurant:
We go in for local color, but this was a bit much. The restaurant is literally the basement of a cheap motel, and the food is mostly fried from frozen. Sometimes, what you see is what you get - and this is one of those times. The fare is mostly burgers and poutine. Meh. Oh, and make sure you pay in CAD. The owner will try to cheat you with crazy arithmetic if you use USD. View all feedback.
So glad we stopped in for a late lunch at The Hungry Moose! I had a Rueben sandwich and my husband had the VIP Burger and Fries. Sure tasted good and if the patty was not homemade it sure tasted/ looked like it. As others have commented, the restaurant did not look the greatest but food sure hit the spot! They sell groceries out of the store/restaurant, we bought frozen Tiger Shrimp for a nice price. Chris kept us “entertained” while we ate. Check it out if you are “in the neighbourhood” or looking for a spot to eat along the highway.
What a trip! By happenstance our fuel pump relay fritzed out as we were driving past the Hungary Moose restaraunt/ Motel. Chris was incredibly friendly allowing us to use his internet and his diner for solving our problem. His partner makes an incredible taco soup ang grilled cheese sandwich on homemade bread. Thanks Chris for helping out!
We were staying in Rossport but unfortunately, there was no restaurants open there. Luckily, the Hungry Moose offered amazing food, excellent service, and a good humored waitress. The restaurant is quaint. The atmosphere or bathrooms are nothing spectacular but the food and people make up for that. If you are in the area and want a good hearty meal, check out the Hungry Moose!
The BLT was amazing, and the owners are extremely friendly. I discovered this place by accident, but I will definitely be returning next time I am in the area. I highly recommend checking them out.
Excellent food and service. A wide variety of food is offered at a very reasonable price. We had chicken fingers, pizza, and a burger. Save room for dessert! Everything tasted great. The highlight of the visit was chatting with the owner and swapping stories.
