After an afternoon hike up Hoderodskopf, we specifically looked for a restaurant where we could get something to eat after 3 pm. Upon arrival, we were told that – at least on that day (Sunday) – there was no food available between 3 pm and 5:30 pm.

We didn 't mention it because other guests had already done so and were told, Well, it 's Friday! I don 't quite understand why this is being denied now. And, yes, I know which café I was in. Could it perhaps be due to the coffee roastery? Fermented coffee?? Original review: Unfortunately, we didn 't know that Fridays are fish days at the café. And unfortunately, at 3:00 PM, the entire place smelled extremely fishy. Other guests who mentioned the strong smell were met with, Well, it 's Friday. I didn 't appreciate that. Since we had driven from quite a distance, we still ordered coffee and cake (after some time, as the staff was very busy and had to run around quite a bit even though it wasn 't that crowded). The selection of cakes was very limited. The vegan apple tart with cinnamon was unfortunately not to my taste at all—the cinnamon was a bit bitter, the whipped cream, apples, and cake base rather tasteless; a touch of sweetness would have improved the flavor. A shame, I had hoped for better. The cherry cake, on the other hand, was very good, according to my husband. All in all, though, even the coffee didn 't entice me to come back.
