It was rather by accident that we found out about this place on tripadvisor. Most people staying in Schladming are probably not looking for a restaurant in Rohrmoos-Untertal, but they sure miss out. Not super easy to find, a lot of curvy street to drive...up the hill, but you end up with a nice view and great hospitality. All the food we had the first night (Chicken based Schnitzel, deer chanterelle mushroom lasagna chanterelle mushroom risotto and then a parfait based of pumpkin seeds) was all incredibly delicious and showed that the chef is not kidding around when it comes to cooking. Since we were so impressed, we had decided to also have our last night there and were rewarded with fresh funghi porcini, I splurged and got the beef fillet (excellent) and as I read somewhere before, the carrot chili soup is very tasty! If we ever come close to this place again, I will surely swing by.

This evening we had dinner at Holzhackerstube, there is one big table on the terras and you are combined with other guests, which brings you to very nice conversations. Food is of high quality and very pure and biologic, even a potatosoup is really something...special. Also the beef from Hochalm cows is so soft and tasty, and the dessert form iced kaiser schmarre was light and with fruits. With every course you can have an excellent Austrian wine from smaller wineyards, but with an every time changing and fitting taste. The service was personal end with detailed infomration. So we had a wonderfull evening at the Holzackerstube.

This is certainly somewhere we will return but next time to stay. On the evening we ate at the Holzhackerstube Peter was preparing a BBQ evening, we were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed some excellent cuisine, the roast beetroot was delicious, and I...was delighted when Peter shared how he had cooked this dish. I look forward to visiting again for the taster menu

Genuine local kitchen with a personal touch. this restaurant is a bit difficult to find. it lies directly on the hang between kessleralm and the planai gondel. it is really nice with real service and excellent local cuisine. the interieur is exactly what they want. in Austria, lots of wood and artifacts. it was also calm and not crowded around the tables.
