this is a family restaurant where the owners carefully prepare traditional Italian specialties. everything is done with tremendous care, the dry sausage, which is part of the antipasto, is made in the house. the service is friendly and inconspicuous. wonderful kalbsal and pasta! this is my favorite Italian restaurant everywhere. What R Reveau doesn't like about The Appian Way:
After reading so many positive reviews, we were prepared to wait long for the food but thought the wait would be worth it. Not at all! After enduring the 1.5-hour wait for two entrees, both were extremely bland. The environment was a bit homey but a little tight and not very comfortable. And to top it all off, the only dessert offered was gelato. Even preparing the check at the end, when we couldn't wait to get out o... View all feedback.
Fully home made, including the sauce and the pasta and the antipasto and gelato. Not Americanized. Same family since I was a little kid. Plan on staying 2 to 3 hours. Call ahead. Sal is the best! Went this past Friday (in Feb) and place was mobbed. Very loud. Still awesome but if you want quiet maybe choose another night.
Great Mother's Day celebration dinner! All homemade to order. Everything!!! From the app, bread, salad course, dinner, and dessert- everything was phenomenal! Thank you!
Authentic great experience. Delicious dishes, mostly made from garden fresh ingredients. Highly recommend.
Plan to spend a few hours here. Everything is made in house (even the olive oil used in the restaurant is from their family's olive grove in Italy. The three ladies who run the place fly to Italy every year to help with the harvest and refill their supply). Because of this level of quality, you will wait for your fantastic food. Order an appetizer, enjoy the wood burning fireplace and the house wine while you wait.
I have to say, this is by far the best Italian restaurant in the area I have been to outside of Italy. Homemade pasta, great menu, and homemade deserts. The atmosphere was very quaint and casual, much like family owned restaurants abroad. Service was phenomenal. Very minor error on my order and he insisted on throwing in my gelato on the house. I will definitely be back when in town again. Will recommend to friends as well. Just a great all around experience. Thank you.
