What Christine Osuba dislikes about Peter Pause:
The restaurant's operating hours need to be updated. I tried to go a little before 1 pm, and they said they closed at 1:30, but they were already closed. This happened on a Tuesday. It doesn't seem like the same place I remember from my childhood. View all feedback.

First timer for breakfast. Place was empty. Food was prepared fast but the toast was burnt. Seems like it should have been fixed since there was no one else waiting for food. Place looked clean enough and the waitress was nice so no issues there. The eggs were good, the bacon was good but the potatos weren't very good at all. Tasteless and barely warm. The coffee was terrible. The french toast was pretty good, nice and moist but it could have used real maple syrup. Not the end of the world thou
Excellent meal! Felt like I went back in time. To the good old diner days. Best coffee I have had in a long time! My Greek omelet was cooked to perfection! Device was great too!
Awesome diner! If you want breakfast this is the place! The staff are awesome and super helpful! We went as a large group and they accommodated us as best they could. The food was very good and came out really quickly for what was ordered. If you get toast do not miss the Italian bread!

No steak eggs on the menu, and the homefries were the saddest and soggiest I had ever experienced.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant, despite living in Schenectady for 16 years. The food was excellent - the poached eggs, potatoes, and thick sliced rye toast were all delicious. My companion ordered the Irish Benedict and was extremely satisfied as well. This is now my new favorite casual breakfast spot!

I can't believe I missed this restaurant every time I drove by. The food was fantastic, the service was top-notch. The only downside was the parking situation, but overall it was definitely a 5-star experience.

They also have a cinnamon bun French toast for $8, which is a giant cinnamon bun sliced into thirds and then prepared French toast style. The omelets are quite large as well. I do have a few minor complaints. First, they don’t offer a gluten-free bread or toast option. While that didn't affect me, it did matter to a couple of people in my group. Second, a side of corned beef hash costs $8. While it may be a large portion, that price seems steep for a side dish, which is why I passed on it. I assume it would have been excellent, just like everything else. Lastly, their syrup is just the regular National brand "pancake syrup," and although they offer real maple syrup, it comes with a $3 upcharge. Despite these small issues, the food was fantastic, and the service was outstanding—extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating when it came to dietary restrictions (aside from the lack of gluten-free toast) and food allergies. They were happy to make reasonable substitutions when possible. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. Five of us ate quite well for only $81.
A local breakfast institution! Italian toast, handmade sausage patties, coffee, eggs....this is the place! ?
Peter Pause is one of the best, if not THE best, breakfast place in Schenectady! Good old fashion diner feel, HUGE portions of food and beyond reasonable prices. The staff is really down to earth, personable and always have a smile for you. I can't recommend this place enough Parking: There is street parking and you can usually park pretty close.

I went here for the first time last weekend boy I was not disappointed!! The food service were both excellent!! I'll definitely be returning for breakfast very soon
My friends brought me here calling it the best breakfast in Schenectady. I wasn 't disappointed. And this is a town with plenty of breakfast competition.
This is our go to place! My 3 year old loves his blueberry pancakes! Our favorite part is the fact that staff is always so friendly. This year there was Santa greeting kiddos at the door and giving out goodie bags.
Family business short breakfast place, since 1958. Very easy to miss. Also with Google Maps we drove right past, had to double back. Boy, I'm glad we made it! A converted first floor of an old house, it is definitely old school, but very clean and well maintained. We arrived a bit before the morning rush. The staff was very warm, friendly and attentive. They ensured that we quickly had drinks, processed our order quickly and checked for us several times, even after things were busy. We sat at the counter so I could watch the action. Everything's fresh. Whole eggs, homemade Italian bread and the like. Sure, they had domestic frits, bacon and sausage mostly cooked on the grill, but this is a short place. The woman who ran the grill was efficient, accurate and fun to watch in action. I had an Aubergine and a Mozzarella Omelette who was great! Italian bread roasts were also excellent. Give Peter Try it. Great place!
