A group of at least 10 of us have been coming to this restaurant every year for quite some time now. This year, we noticed a significant improvement in the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food. While it has always been decent, this year's experience was definitely a step up. It's a fantastic spot to enjoy a meal and unwind. View all feedback.
What Colin W doesn't like about The Hart Inn:
The young staff provided excellent service, but unfortunately, beer was spilled into my wife's curry. The food was decent, but slightly overpriced. Sandsend is not London, so it is surprising that Wainwrights beer costs £5.90 a pint. This may not be the best way to attract tourists. As a result, we do not plan to return to this restaurant. Spent a week away in a house across the bridge from the Heart pub. Note: it 's the only pub in the village! and they are really taking the mick in terms of capitalising on the cost of living... £5.90 for a basic pint of beer (Wainwright 's! and at the time of writing, comparatively the average in London was £5.50. Food was average and nicely presented but unimaginative and on the upper edge of the average for a basic pub. Dining service was very good, but bar staff were a little 'just going through the motions and grey ' also I suspect the locals that use tge pub are owners of second houses in the area and the pub had an atmosphere of wealth and arrogance. Went to the Fox and Hounds at Goldsborough on the way home, good basic food, really friendly staff, and not very expensive at all.

The food was incredible, the atmosphere was lovely, and the service was excellent. I highly recommend this charming little restaurant, though you may have to wait for a table.
We popped in for lunch whilst visiting for the day , staying in Whitby . My husband had smoked salmon salad and I had prawn salad. The service was quick , and the salad looked beautiful , so colourful with a pot of coleslaw and new potatoes. We have been to this part of the world many times but have never been able to get a table before as was too busy . Glad we made it today !
