What Jeff dislikes about Qingfeng Bun:
I was so disappointed with the food at this restaurant that I felt compelled to leave my very first Google review. The sausage was terrible and the buns were incredibly bland. The sausage tasted like flour and had a rubbery odor, while the buns were even worse than the frozen ones you find at the grocery store. If you have no other options, you’re better off grabbing something from the supermarket. View all feedback.

The atmosphere is incredibly relaxed, and the staff, who are always warm and friendly, seem genuinely healthy and happy, despite their limited English. They especially enjoy it when I try to speak a bit of Mandarin, which makes my visits even more enjoyable—I never want to leave because the energy there is so inviting. It’s a simple establishment, yet it has that lovely, cozy, home-like feel typical of Chinese culture. The food here is not just authentic, but also delicious—comforting like home cooking, specifically from Northeast China. My impression is that the chef isn’t just cooking for the sake of profit; he cooks with pride and skill, and his passion is evident. I love trying to make him smile by speaking Mandarin, and the entire staff has such delightful smiles. I always order their soy milk, which is the best I've ever tasted, paired with some heavenly youtiao (Chinese doughnuts). Each visit, I try a new dish because I'm determined to sample everything on their menu, and their buns are simply delightful. Just a note—some dishes are intentionally spicy or extra salty, but the staff is attentive and makes sure you’re aware. Thank you, Qing Feng Bun, and thank you, China. I’m truly grateful that restaurants like yours exist!

Right away, you'll notice how soft and fluffy they are—so light they practically melt in your mouth. What truly makes them special, however, is the filling. Whether you choose pork belly, char siu, or a vegetarian option, the fillings are always rich in flavor and perfectly seasoned. The combination of the tender bun and savory filling is truly a match made in heaven. Another great aspect of these baos is their versatility. They can serve as a quick snack or be part of a satisfying meal when paired with sides. Plus, since they're steamed, they offer a healthier choice compared to fried alternatives. In summary, baos are a must-try for any food enthusiast. Their distinctive flavor and texture elevate them in the realm of Asian cuisine, and anyone who tries them is likely to find a new favorite.
