We were introduced to the owner, and he was charming... read more My mother and I stopped by for lunch because the restaurant was close to where we were doing some business. We were introduced to the owner, and he was charming and checked on us several times during the meal. Our meal was pleasant, but it didn’t seem as “homemade” as the other restaurants we have visited in Scalea. However, if location is important to you, it’s just off the beach and next to the fort, so that is a positive.

It was the closest restaurant to where we were staying....Pretty expensive for Calabria, consider... read more My Partner and I ended up at La Playa this past November 2022. It was the closest restaurant to where we were staying....Pretty expensive for Calabria, considering we only had seconds, no wine, no coffee, fruit, or desert...ended up paying about 45 euros...The food tasted average..nothing spetacular. There were two people serving in the restaurnat...an elderly gentleman and a late 40 's to 50 's yrs old man....The elderly gentleman was really friendly and welcoming...the other fellow...it made us feel like he was doing us a favor to be there......At the end I had to pay cash because I was told that their credit card machine....was not working ......I don 't think I will ever go back there to eat.....

I had the pork chop and couldn't eat it as it was like old shoe leather. My wife's veal steak was even worse However topping this was the glass/ plastic/circular ball in the salad that my wife could have choked on. When we complained they seemed unbothered and carried on serving their bog standard pizzas to the other customers. Obviously it was on own fault for ordering something other than a pizza. Absolute shocking attitude. It was the size of a marble. Dont go here if u value ur health
