I prefer Taco Square in Savannah. The only downside is that they close the kitchen by 5:30 PM, which can be a bit early. However, they are a family-run business, and as long as they keep serving their amazing tacos, I’m happy! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Panaderia La Canasta:
The ambiance gives the impression of being in a rural area of Latin America, which may not be ideal, depending on perspective. The interior and overall space feel disorganized and unclean. We initially considered dining in but changed our minds due to the unpleasant view. However, the service was good, especially considering the wait time. They even offered us complimentary drinks for the delay. The tacos and the cor... View all feedback.

We stopped by to check out La Canasta Mexican bakery mid-afternoon, so this review may be a bit unfair due to time of day and inventory on hand being somewhat limited. The quality of the baked goods was decent, and very authentic.Mexican bread is considered a bit dry and coarse by american standards, but this is normal, as it is traditionally accompanied with a cup of Mexican Chocolate or glass of milk when eaten. Conchas are a rustic yeast sweet egg bread, frequently with a cinnamon flavor, topped with a sweet baked on crust of sugar, butter, and flour. This traditional bread is a small domed round loaf about 5 inches in diameter, and the basis for my review.Being of Mexican ancestry and originally from California where Mexican bakeries abound, I can recognize good Mexican bread when I taste it. La Canasta bakery makes pretty good Conchas and other crumbly sweet baked goods as well as empanadas (baked turnovers). If you are desiring soft fluffy sweet baked goods like from a supermarket bakery you will be disappointed. If you are looking for rustic baked goods that are sweet, but not sugar overloaded, give La Canasta bakery a try. Their baked goods are best accompanied with a cup of hot coffee, chocolate, or a cold glass of milk.I plan to give them another try, next time earlier in the day when they haven't sold out of some items. Maybe then, I can revise my review to 5 stars.
