The first time I came here was for lunch and it was everything I wanted. The Indian Taco is a must! I also went on a second occasion for take out and the food was ready the minute I walked in the door! I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for something other than Italian food in the Soo. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about kokom's Bannock shack:
The chicken was quite overdone and drowning in mayonnaise. The "bun" was ok but a bit greasy even for deep fried bannock which I have had before. Overall it lacked taste. A cranberry or another type of traditional condiment would have gone along way. View all feedback.

I had never tried bannock before, but I will definitely try it again after visiting this restaurant. They serve traditional Indigenous food in a laid-back environment, creating a unique dining experience. The prices were a little on the high side, but considering it is a specialty restaurant, I suppose that is to be expected. I will definitely be coming back in the future.
The food at this hidden gem is excellent, with fresh, light, crispy exterior bannock being the standout dish. The menu offers a good selection, prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly. I will definitely be returning.
Many ways to have bannock. Certainly worth a try. Had the hot sandwich bannock beef patty--- excellent. Friendly service with lots of educational info about bannock dishes and native cuisine. Referred to by motel next door which is also very good accommodation.
