Palmer House Pub - Sauk Centre

This grand hotel has been allowed to run down such that it seems Hilton is using it as a cash cow. I wish I could post pictures of the tired looking hallways and rooms, the bathroom with unfinished wallpapering, etc. There are so many good hotels in Chicago don't spend your money on this one.

We did not stay or do any ghost stuff- we were going through town and wanted a place to eat. Our service was good even though they had a huge party in the restaurant area, pub had great food and we bought a cute birdhouse.

Great place for ghost stories and history. The restaurant food was terrible and expensive. Poir service. We will definitely not return.

The in-laws live in town and we usually go with them when we're in town for a visit. The food is pretty good. Nothing too spectacular, but definitely tasty and pretty reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and I felt like they knew most of the customers by name. On our most recent trip we both got the Cuban sandwich, which was really good, but didn't really resemble a typical Cuban. It was basically a BBQ pulled pork sandwich with a few pieces of ham (no mustard or Swiss cheese like you'd usually expect to see on a Cuban), and served on a bun instead of panini-press type bread (though the bun was soft and delicious). Again, delicious, but maybe in need of a different name. As far as ghosts are concerned, I'm a pretty big skeptic, and have never seen anything unexplainable here... but the stories are sometimes fun.

A must stop! Get a room and make a weekend of it! Classic hotel fun bar good food!
