What User doesn't like about Gibson's Fish & Chips Ltd:
I am a fan of fish and chips, so I thought I would check this place out on my business trip based on the good reviews. I have to say the service was excellent - fast, friendly and helpful. I even got up sold on the apple pie. The fish and chips, however, we're just ok. They were not over cooked (which is the death of fish and chips ) but they were quite greasy. The apple pie was quite good, but not amazing. Overall a... View all feedback.
This restaurant in Saskatoon serves the best fish and chips hands down. The fish is always flaky and tender, and the fries are thick and delicious. It's unmatched by any other restaurant in the area.
I had lunch at this restaurant today and ordered the half order of their classic "Fish'n Chips" along with a bowl of "Beef Pot Roast" soup. I enjoyed the flavorful soup but was not impressed with the highly processed bun that came with it. A fresh homemade bun would really make a difference for future diners. The half order of fish and chips was perfectly cooked with a beautiful golden brown batter that added a delicious crunchy texture to the cod. The home fries, made from red potatoes with the skin on, were nicely fried and paired well with the fish. It was strange that there was no malt vinegar on the table, as it is a staple with fish and chips. The creamy and fresh coleslaw was also delicious.
Cant beat it!. I have been going to Gibsons for over a decade and never get tired of the fish and chips, not to boot the wonderful and welcoming family atmosphere!
I don't live in town, but I make sure to visit Gibson's Fish and Chips every time I come to town. I believe that the negative reviews are likely from the owners or employees of Jerry's, who seem to be posing as different people. I always order the fish and chips or chicken and chips and have always enjoyed the taste, temperature, and batter of my meal. This family-owned establishment has been a part of Saskatoon's history since the 1970s, and brings a touch of British flavor to the prairies. Don't expect health food here, but if you're looking for classic, delicious fare, Gibson's Fish and Chips is the place to go.
Tasty!. My family have always been fans of Joey 's but last night was almost an hour wait to get in so we came to Gibson 's instead. We got a table right away but we noticed the place was quite busy for the 2 ladies and 1 young guy working (plus whoever in the kitchen). There was a sign on the door saying 'Closed at 7:30 ', so I wonder if people called in sick.<br/ <br/ Anyway the girl serving us was very friendly and a total sweetheart, she sort of furthered my idea that regular staff had called in 'cause she was a little flustered but our group of 5 were so all over the place that it was probably our fault lol! Anyway, she was a sweetheart.<br/ <br/ 2 had the fish and chips, 1 had shrimp and chips, I had the salmon burger and caesar salad and the last in the group had the half chicken and chips. The fish chips was tasty not a flaky crust, but almost like a beer batter. The fish was cooked nicely and was perfect with lemon. The shrimp was huge! The half chicken was actually chicken fingers, but they were as good as anywhere. The fries were nice and thick cut (which we prefer) and the gravy was good though I am pretty sure it 's packaged, tasty none the less. My salmon burger was awesome all meat, no filler. A few raw red onions on top with lettuce and tomato and a dill garlic aioli sauce. I loved it, super good. Caesar salad was caesar salad.<br/ <br/ All of the above with 3 cokes and 2 coffee 's was slightly over $75 plus tip. All in all we enjoyed our meal and would return. Thumbs up to the staff who ran like crazy to help everyone.
