I was there on a business lunch and the atmosphere and ambiance of the cozy cafe is awesome. It's fancy, but not too fancy and it's cozy and quiet. Not to mention that surrounding landscape is beautiful. This is a great place to have casual business lunches while still impressing your guests with decor, landscape and the food! The waiting staff were all very friendly and professional. They offer their opinion on favo... View all feedback.
What Alene Bogan doesn't like about Boffins Club:
A group of friends gathered at Boffins to celebrate a birthday. The interior is bright and filled with oak tables, wooden floors and walls. Although beautiful, the wood needs some restoration work. The table tops and floors are worn and scratched. Use of tablecloths would improve the look of the tables. 3 of our group were disappointed because their food choice was sold out. The time was noon so that was quite surpri... View all feedback.
I have been here numerous times over the years. The setting is spectacular especially if you can eat on the patio and walk abut the grounds before or after. It is the most beautiful place in the city. BUT the food and service has deteriorated lately. The menu has changed. It seems more casual instead of unique and delicious. More like a lunch menu. There are burgers and fries and sandwiches. A few entrees like noodle bowls etc. Just average and disappointing. The service was average or less. After bringing the food we didn't see them again. No offer for dessert or coffee. When I went inside to ask about it they said it was too close to closing time. It seemed like they were anxious for us to leave. Too bad because it was a lovely place. Maybe they are just catering to the lunch crowd now. The menu and hours seem to reflect that. Closes at 8 pm. Hard to attract the dinner crowd for those hours.
Nestled in the U of S grounds Boffins is a fantastic restaurant. Our server, Julee, was amazing. She was prompt and efficient with our drinks and food, I loved the soup of the day (chickpea chicken curry) she suggested. My husband had the Kale Drogo and it was quite tasty as well, great kitchen staff there! I must commend Julee, even in the face of two VERY belligerent diners she kept her cool. I worked as a server on and off for years, I would have called the cops on them (it was bad, the male was quite aggressive). Not only was she a great waitress she handled these two with grace. After supper we went outside and enjoyed the grounds, which are beautiful. We will definitely be back.
We had the pleasure of having lunch at Boffins. Having never gone before, we weren't sure what to expect! Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly! Helped us with suggestions! We dined on chilled avocado and grapefruit soup, the chorizo eager, sabih pita, and stir fry. All three dishes were delicious! Will definitely go back!
The menu is a mix of so many different influences - Chinese, Filipino, Thai, several other - I wondered if they could pull it off. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the meal. Importantly, so were all of my colleagues. The setting is great: quiet, unique, and busy but unrushed.
Four friends had lunch at Boffins recently and all of us quite enjoyed our meal and the beer. Boffins is a rather non-traditional restaurant setting, with its antique tables and chairs, and old hardwood flooring. The waitress was friendly and the service prompt. The food was hot and tasty.
