Utamaro. - Sarasota

Came in pretty close to closing and they sat us and provided us with excellent and fast service. Very welcoming and the food was super flavorful and fresh. We even overheard another customer on our way in say they just came back from Hawaii and ate only sushi but nothing compared to the sushi here at Utamaro.

Not sure why such a hype. Although the fish was fresh, the quality was much to be desired. The rice I had on my Chirashi bowl had chlorine taste, salmon pieces were separating and falling apart, tuna cuts were oddly shaped. Definitely the people making it were not well trained on proper way of preparation. Those in my party who ordered rolls couldn't appreciate the nuances of the quality of the fish hidden in them. Disappointed at best! If I ever decide to come back, I may try Ramen, but I'll be looking for some place different to explore.

Some of the best sushi I've ever had! Very friendly service and beautiful atmosphere. The flamingo and Sarasota rolls were particular favs. Highly recommend!

This is a fun sushi/sashimi place that has been in the same location for 20 years, with owners 5 years ago. They have done a nice job with this restaurant. The food is fresh, sashimi are huge slices and the sushi is spot on. The service is extraordinary, Lynn took care of us, answered any questions and was attentive beyond expectations. Highly recommended.

Excellent place for delicious sushi with generous portions. Miso soup is excellent here and they also have Kirin Ichiban, Sapporo beer and Kirin Light all delicious beers.
