The jewel in this crown, however, is the master, who is one of the most knowledgeable and professional barms it is ever my pleasure and privilege to meet. His recommendations were excellent and his way and warm hospitality made our evening very pleasant. If you love whisky, or if you want to try it, you cannot miss Malt Bar Kirkwall.

Very cozy and comfortable. Only seats 7-8 people, so don't expect to come here in a big group. The bartender is very knowledgeable and can help you pick out specific whiskeys you want to try, and the stock on offer is wide. Mostly all single malts, with a couple of non-malt scotches and some American whiskeys. Price can differ based on what you order. There are whiskeys that go for 3000 or 4000 yen a glass, and others that go for 500. So your mileage may vary depending on your budget and preferences.

Wide range of reasonable and expensive Scotches. The owner is very knowledgeable, helpful and a really friendly gentleman. He speaks English and is open to questions and entertainment. I was in a lot of whiskey bars in Sapporo. That would be one of my top three.
