Food is great, I would go again. If you want to talk this is not the place. Sounds do bounce around the concrete floors and walls. Service was quick and fast. We had 6 people and no reservations. We had 2 different soup dumplings, Dan noodles, green beans, shrimp and shishito peppers, beef roll and one of the rice dishes. Everyone was happy and satisfied. View all feedback.
What Daniel Korzeniowski doesn't like about Dan Modern Chinese Santa Monica:
The food is flavorable but the chicken was a bit dry and the portions was a bit small (lunch time portion), The costumer service feels like they aren’t really passionated about there job( the food doesn’t come at the same time for everyone, and we got the food laid on the other side of the table, would be nice of them to ask who’s dish it is. Great service and delicious Chinese food. A fantastic option if you're craving Din Thai fung but don't want a long wait or make the drive over. dumplings are a bit pricey but expected

Come here if you want excellent Taiwanese cuisine. My mouth salivates whenever I think about their noodles. Simply delicious. They have a small menu which means they're able to make everything perfectly. The only thing that I don't care for is the décor. Too modern and sterile. I think a splash of color on the walls would do wonders for this place.Short Rib Dan Mein 5/5 The absolute best dish here. Saucy, chewy noodles tossed with tender beef. Get this and thank me later.Dungeness Crab Fried Rice 5/5 Mmmm so good! They don't skimp on the crab either!Mapo Tofu w/ Crab 5/5 Yum. Huge portion and best eaten with rice.Pork Shrimp Xiao Long Bao 4/5 Probably my least favorite item here. Still good and soupy. I'm just not a huge shrimp fan so should have ordered a different flavor.Service: 5/5 Excellent service. Workers are very nice and food comes out quickly. Bathroom is clean.
Modern Chinese cuisine that are big on flavors with unbeatable prices (gratuity is included in the total too). Why did I only discover Dan now?! My Xiao long bao go-to is always pork and here it is $7 for 5 pieces (full order) which is a steal (considering I frequent DTF). The vegetable fried rice was amazing, I couldn't get enough. Three cups chicken was perfectly seasoned and came with steaming white rice that really hit the spot.I'll probably visit the Long Beach branch next time since it's closer. Hopefully it's less busy.
