wonderful tapas restaurant in the heart of pismo beach. it has a cool mood, an upscale decor and friendly staff. great selection of fresh, locally related ingredients. I recommend the octapus and lamb lollipops, both were so skrumbling. a bit expensive, but it is worth it for special occasions. View all feedback.
What Molly M doesn't like about La Bodega Tapas Pismo Beach:
Went to brunch on Saturday. Weird vibe when you walk in- almost like they don't care if you are there or not. Owner or manager or whatever he is had a weird demeanor. Only one waiter and not too many people but he had to do everything and so we were waiting for a while and the owner/manager did nothing to help. About to walk out when we finally got to order. Waiter was very nice. Drinks were ok- somehow tasted strong... View all feedback.
What an amazing brunch! We arrived upon opening and were greeted with smiles and treated like locals. The lobster benedict was out of this world! Definitely stop in and try out their menu. Ask for the special of the day, as the menu changes every few weeks!Food: 5/5
A Whirlwind of Flavors, Fun, and a Few Hurdles at La Bodega Tapas! If you 're in the mood for a culinary adventure, La Bodega Tapas is the place to be! Brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride of flavors that will leave your taste buds begging for more. While the food alone is reason enough to visit, let 's dive into the thrilling experience I had, complete with a slow-motion waiter and an owner who must have moonlighted as a fire-breathing dragon!First things first, let 's talk about the food. Oh boy, the food! La Bodega Tapas has mastered the art of delivering mouthwatering Spanish delights that dance on your palate. From the sizzling gambas to the heavenly paella, every dish is a symphony of flavors that 'll make your taste buds do the flamenco. So, don 't even think about leaving without trying their tantalizing tapas! Now, let 's address the speed of service. Picture this: a sloth leisurely strolling across a tightrope. That 's the pace at which our dear waiter decided to operate. It felt like time had decided to take a vacation while we waited for our orders. But hey, in a world where everything is fast-paced, maybe this was their way of reminding us to slow down and savor the moment. Patience is a virtue, right? Now, brace yourself for the owner, who clearly believes in the saying, We do can we can do! This person must have mastered the art of rudeness because their expertise was truly mind-boggling. Their icy glares could freeze the flames on a grilled octopus, and their snappy comebacks were sharper than a chef 's knife. But hey, maybe they 've just had one too many chili peppers that day! If you 're lucky, you might witness a fiery showdown between the owner and a customer. It 's like dinner theater, but with extra spice!Despite the waiter 's tortoise-like speed and the owner 's fiery demeanor, the location of La Bodega Tapas is simply splendid. Tucked away in a charming corner of the city, it exudes an old-world charm that adds to the overall experience. The cozy ambiance, rustic décor, and warm lighting make you feel like you 've stumbled upon a hidden treasure. So, grab a seat, enjoy the atmosphere, and maybe even place a bet on whether your food will arrive before the next millennium.Tips for fellow adventurers:Bring your patience cap and wear it proudly. Slow service can be an opportunity to practice your mindfulness skills.Treat the owner 's fiery temper as a game. See how long you can keep your cool before you burst into laughter (or flames).Embrace the chaos! The rollercoaster experience is all part of the fun. Just make sure to hold on tight to your sangria! In conclusion, La Bodega Tapas is an enigmatic culinary gem that will leave you with stories to tell. The food is absolutely worth it, but be prepared for the waiter 's snail-like pace and the owner 's fire-breathing tendencies. Take it all in stride, enjoy the fantastic location, and let the experience unfold like a theatrical masterpiece. And remember, at La Bodega Tapas, they do can they can do!¡Olé!
What can I say about this establishment. Amazing service and hospitality from our server Bradford. He was nothing but polite and helpful when serving us. However, I am a bit taken back by the initial exchange we experienced upon walking up to the front doors of the restaurant. Upon stepping foot inside we noticed a slow evening with about 6 tables open when the owner greeted us and said only bar tops were open. We told her we were only here for dessert as it was my girlfriends birthday so we'd be in and out before dinner service started. She denied the request and still looked to the bar tops. Her husband then approached us and we mentioned we were only here for dessert and but proceeded to follow him to a nearby table. It wasn't up until we gathered around the open table the wife approached and told him we weren't allowed to sit. We had to walk out and they gave us the outdoor table where no other party accompanied us in the cold evening. What irked us the most was the fact that after we finished our dessert the inside went from 6 open tables to 10!! Why did she refuse to allow us to eat inside? Let alone on a special occasion we were celebrating on a slow night? Very displeased about the situation. We mentioned it to our server after in which he profusely apologized for the mishap that he had absolutely no clue about. He told the owners and they never came out to apologize or make it known that they were aware of the bad situation and did nothing to end it on a great note for us. Great food. Excellent server, Bradford. Bad experience. Warm Regards,
Food is great. I love tapas! Very small portions for the price but really good food. The stools are a bit uncomfortable at the high tables. We came early (5:15 pm) to avoid the crowd with friends (8 of us) and they had live music that night which we were happy about. When we were seated the owner (I assume) seemed very anxious about seating us and said that he’d have to give us a time limit because there was live music and “people” like to just camp out. Our bill for 8 was over $500.00 with the 20% gratuity added. We left at 7:00. Not a very welcoming comment. This was not my first time in but it was my friends first time and it left a bit of a sour note. I asked the owner as we left if our timing was ok…. He said “ Oh yes, it was pretty good” I’d say spending $500 on tapas and drinks is pretty good. There was never people waiting for tables. I’ve eaten there 5 or 6 times and never had to wait for a table. Not sure I’ll be back. Lots of excellent choices without the attitude.Vegetarian options: Veggie paella, Risotto, empanadas
My husband and I are local but rarely eat downtown. So glad we went to La Bodega because I saw paella on the menu. I’ve been hunting for a good paella and found it here! Very fresh and light like I’ve had in coastal areas of Spain. Service was great and so were the drinks.Food: 5/5
