Went to the #1 rated bakery on a Sunday to find it absolutely packed. Too long a wait for impatient people for a lite lunch. We got in the car and drove a few minutes to this gem of s place. Madame Matisse can be proud of its warm and friendly staff and its excellent quiches, salad and dressing. Best European coffee we have had in Santa Fe, as well We will return again. What Jennifer Mowery doesn't like about Madame Matisse:
Oh boy where to start. Well we were in town from CO and read all the reviews thinking this place would be great. It was ok at best. The egg Benedict weren’t warm or cooked enough. They tasted like mustard and vinegar was made into a sauce and placed on top. And we still paid for them even though it was clear they weren’t good and we ordered a different entree. The crepes were good but not excellent. And they were con... View all feedback.

We used to go here often, but will never go back. We tried really hard to give this business a chance, we liked the crepes and the eggs were always cooked right, but the service has gone downhill. The server we had on more than one occasion seemed confused and would bring us the opposite of what we asked for or nothing at all, the kitchen staff was the reason we stopped going, the chef sat down at the table next to us listening to a super loud TV show on his phone while we were trying to enjoy breakfast, we told them we wouldn’t be back and they just were like ok… poor customer service, poor ambiance, I give two stars because the food is decent. They used to have better staff before pandemic so hopefully they can get it together training their staff on customer service (kitchen and wait staff) and we’d consider going backI always drive by there sad because we had some great experiences there when they first opened.
Nice folks running the place! Had a latte and a pastry. Both were excellent ?
Amazing French bistro bakery in Santa Fe. Delicious pastries. Highly recommend this place for coffee croissants or a full on breakfast, lunch or brunch. Très savoureux!
Let me tell you. This place is amazing if you like pastries! We've been to many places around the Santa Fe area and to be honest most of the food was sub-par.I've traveled to many places in Europe, eaten a lot of pastries and I had the pistachio, chocolate, au pan and it was probably the best pastry I've ever had. Will be coming back here for sure.
