Contribute FeedbackNestled within a bustling casino, this restaurant offers a captivating view but faces challenges in both food consistency and ambiance. While the posole and prime rib have garnered praise, menu items like the Caesar salad and certain seafood dishes have received mixed feedback. Diners can entrust their taste buds to well-executed specials during events like restaurant week, but the distracting smell of cigarette smoke from the casino and overly cold interior detract from the experience. Despite service issues, there's room for improvement, and the lively atmosphere during happy hour makes it worth a return visit for many.
First time visit. We went for Santa Fe restaurant week and it was wonderful. The special was an appetizer, a main entree, and dessert for $35. We both had the prime rib and it was incredible. We definitely want to go back and try other menu items.
The food is excellent and the presentation is 5 stat worthy.
After visiting Cottonwood Kitchen twice, I feel compelled to give this review. The first visit was on the spur of the moment, arriving just after six pm on a Thursday. We had heard the the crab cakes were pretty good. Unfortunately the restaurant was full, the wait was 45 min-1hr, so we decided to sit at the bar. There was good live music playing. and the bartender was attentive. We had missed the Social Hour , with discounts until 6PM. They were out of Crab Cakes, so we had nachos, which were fair. We came back a week later (with a reservation) to try the Crab Leg special, which sounded good from the ads. We did get the Social Hour prices on the two drinks and the avocado salad. The salad was very strange looking like it had been stuffed into a tin can to create a decorative form, which looked exactly like a tin can, not very appetizing. It was soggy and soaked in a creamy dressing. The crab legs were not King Crab, so fairly small legs and difficult to shell, but they were tasty, served only with a rice pilaf. I tried the short ribs which were very fatty, served with what tasted like canned gravy and previously frozen chewy potatoes. The asparagus was actually fairly good. We ordered the suggested housemade flan for dessert which was mediocre and quite stiff in texture. Even with discounted items, our bill was still over $80 (for two of us) plus tip. Although the decor of the restaurant was nice, it was still noisy and the food was just not up to the prices charged. Not worth the trip through the noisy, smokey casino.
Very busy place on New Year’s Day evening. Table was ready, the restaurant was very presentable, even though they were very busy. The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. We all had the prime rib. Presentation was beautiful, food nice and warm, and the flavor was scrumptious. Service was great and server very personable and attentive. Great place for any occasion.
Seriously the best prime rib in the state! We have been there numerous times and EVERY server has been wonderful. The musicians they bring in are awesome. We come from out of town to this place almost weekly and LOVE it!
