One of our favorite places for great food. We started going when they were in their old location many years ago. Nothing ever changes! The food is always wonderful..Chili Rellenos are execellent, and the staff always makes you feel like you are home. You won't be disappointed. View all feedback.
What Donn D doesn't like about Cafe Castro:
I had the Flight of Tacos, which were pretty darn good. After a long day on the road they really hit the spot like my old man used to say. The inside isn't much to look at, but it's got great reviews for a reason. The food is good, but not overpriced. More importantly it's a place you don't have to dress up to go to, which in Santa Fe can be more difficult than you would think unless you just want fast food or Outbac... View all feedback.
This is a fantastic, family-owned New Mexican restaurant that is welcoming and pet-friendly. They offer delicious food and excellent service at a reasonable price. I discovered sopaipillas filled with carne adobado here and will definitely be ordering them again.
It was an order to go so we didn't get to experience the ambiance. Staff was very friendly and helpful in taking the order.
The worst food I’ve had since arriving in Santa Fe.
The chicken in the enchiladas tasted boiled with no seasoning .
I've always loved Castro's...until this weekend. Apparently the dad use to make all the red chile (when it was delicious) and now it is absolutely disgusting, seriously not edible. The chile was over seasoned I couldn't taste the chile, all I could taste was garlic... the posole and Spanish rice tasted as it was doused in oregano, but I couldn't see it. I'm going to say no taste test was done! Definitely not the same Castros, I won't be going back.
