Description

Tydes at the Four Seasons Santa Barbara offers stunning ocean views and a luxurious setting, making it a sought-after destination for upscale dining. The menu features gourmet, diverse dishes including vegan and gluten-free options, complemented by a well-curated local beverage selection and a striking tropical fish aquarium at the bar. While many guests praise the attentive, knowledgeable staff and exceptional ambiance, some note inconsistent service with slow pacing and occasional errors, alongside a high price point including an automatic 18% gratuity. Despite occasional lapses, the overall experience is memorable, ideal for those seeking an exclusive beachfront dining atmosphere.

Every year, we enjoy dining at Tydes as part of a conference, and while the setting is beautiful, this time the service left much to be desired. Our dinner lasted over four hours on a fixed menu, which unfortunately did not match what we were promised. For much of our meal, our waitress seemed to be missing in action. In contrast, another table from our group, served by a different staff member, received their appetizers before we were even approached for our order. By the time our entrees arrived, the other table was almost done with their meal. It felt as though the restaurant was understaffed, yet a large number of staff suddenly appeared to bring us our bill and clear the table as we finished. Although our meal took more than four hours, they rushed us out the door in just five minutes. The slow service has been a recurring issue over the past three years, but being hurried out this year was a new experience. Overall, there seemed to be a disregard for service and for the needs and comfort of diners, especially considering a $300 meal.

The restaurant is situated in a wonderful location right by the beach. The bar area is quite appealing, complete with a tropical aquarium. The menu is interesting, and the quality of the dishes is particularly impressive, although some portions were just okay. On the downside, the table setting seems somewhat impersonal, and there are little details missing, such as an amuse-bouche. Overall, given the prices, I would give this experience a strong four out of five.

The food and beers were delicious. We flew in from Summerland, CA this morning and this was our first eating spot. My Wifw had the burger and I had the mixed grilled trio. He said the burger was amazing. You can tell a gourmet burger from an Applebee 's burger because it has more flavor to it. He asked for it well done and wishes it was more cooked but he was happy with it. For me, I felt the trio fish had too much butter. Our server was amazing! Very attentive and talkative. I feel bad I didn 't get her name. On the hand, there was a sore thumb in the room. One of the hostess, Yadira, did not fit into the environment. Her attire was not too welcoming for this place of business. We 'll come back again in the future.

While it's true that one has to either be a guest of the Biltmore Hotel or a member of the Coral Casino or willing to pay the day charge, the stunning view more than makes it worth every penny. Even on a cloudy day, the...
