What Selmer Larkin doesn't like about Oriental Restaurant:
Stopped here for some soup for my fiancée after the worst kebabs I have ever eaten from Bill's Asian & Kebab House on Liverpool Street, Hobart. Bill's really should stay clear of kebabs and I am disappointed at not being able to rate them on Zomato so I could warn others to NEVER BUY KEBABS THERE!!! Charcoaled, tough, chunky meat, lacking flavour, no sauce throughout and the garlic sauce almost tasteless- disgust... View all feedback.

Anyway, the Wonton Soup from Oriental House was $6 for a small take away container. The flavour was average and wontons a little overcooked and chewy. Would try another Asian restaurant next time.
This restaurant has very average decor, but has the best Chinese food in Hobart and especially relatively quick takeaway service. The food is always superbly cooked, and the ingredients are fresh. The house specialty if you have not tried it is special fried rice and it is a meal in itself
We visit this restaurant whenever we can. It's a great place to meet with friends, the service is always great, the food is top class and it is excellent value for money.
The restaurant was not busy yet food took some time to come out, the entrees were very ordinary with little flavour. One main course was incorrect - mongolian lamb when we ordered beef. I must admit I did not take much notice of the prices on the menu and our son paid and later said it was $95.80, we could have had similar dishes that tasted a lot better locally for around $65. We were visiting the area and it was the only bad meal we had in Tasmania.
I attended to have dinner with people I had not previously met. There were about 15 people, so this resulted in a long delay for food. A couple of diners had entrees, but most just had a main. All meals were well presented, typical Chinese fare on offer. Owner came out and apologised for delays and offered free hot drinks to compensate. About half the group took up that offer.
