Brilliant!. Very consistent coffee. Featured single origin is usually lovely. House blend from Gridlock comes and goes a bit in terms of consistency of late, but the locally roasted Project Yellow blend is astonishingly good. Enough body to fill-out a piccolo or cap, but as a doppio ristretto....oh my goodness! Vibrant berry fruit with some nut hints and a touch of acid to finish it off beautifully. Superb macarons,... Best coffee I bombed in Hobart. Perfect location right in the heart of the city, so if you ever go with a caffeine-fix, definitely get in! They do not offer much on the way of eating, so it is less café and more specialty coffee.

Everyone raves that Yellow Bernard serves the best coffee in Hobart. I've come again to catch this enthusiasm. However for me, the coffee had a spice taste to it, not offensive but different from what I usually enjoy. I am no coffee guru. Perhaps this is the authentic way a coffee should taste. For me, there are other coffee roasts that float my boat. The staff are friendly & welcoming. The macarons are super moorish & worth the treat.
The queue of humanity snaking its way out the door into the morning sun was a fair sign that Yellow Bernard are doing something right! It was a simple order; an espresso and a macaron. They delivered in spades! Other favourites around town include Capulus, Zimmah and Bury Me Standing, but Yellow Bernard are definitely up there with the best! forkandfoot.com
I'm sticking with my originally-allocated four stars, but they're mostly for Yellow Bernard's macarons.
