This was our first time at Crush. Had heard good things about it, were pleased to finally check it out, and weren't disappointed. In fact, it exceeded our expectations. This has just the right atmosphere for a wine bar.....sophisticated, yet welcoming for most any occasion or style of dress. They have an impressive wine list, by glass or bottle. (In fact, they've been recognized by Wine Spectator for having a great wine list basically every year since they've been open....around 12 years running. They have a nice food menu, with changing specials....a good selection for most anyone. We had just come for a glass or two of wine, not to eat, so we didn't get to sample their delicious sounding entrees. We did get a couple appetizers: fresh, crusty bread with dipping oil (for only $4! as well as a smoked trout pate. They readily accommodated our request for cucumbers to go with the trout pate rather than crostini. Both were a nice accompaniment to the wine. (TBH, I thought the pate was lacking a little flavor and was a bit dry compared to some outstanding trout dips/pates I've had elsewhere, but this may be more personal taste. We were pleased enough with everything that we look forward to going again and this time trying some of their other small plates as well as their entress. (They seem to specialize in getting unique and varied oysters and have a n ever changing selection. Yum! We were warmly greeted at the door, and the woman who greeted soon thereafter checked in on us at the bar and made friendly conversation.....Turned out she (Andrea is the owner. It was the Saturday before Halloween, and she and her staff were all in costume. Andrea appears to have a strong, fun, and cohesive staff, and we had great service. Thanks for the really nice experience, Andrea. Check out Crush....You'll be glad you did! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It was meh. The server was stretched a little thin; so our table lacked the attention it needed. The Pizza was actually very good; but that was it. The rest of the food was mediocre. Beautiful space though. If you want to come for some drinks and a fresh made pizza this is your spot. Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5

My husband made a reservation for 6 p.m. for my birthday. When scheduling the table they did not relay that the entire street was in ruins..no parking, uneven ground, gravel..totally impassable..it looked like a war zone. Not knowing this because we live in Fremont, I was in heels with my two parents who are 72 and 74, husband and 3 childresn respectively....not safe. Service was mediocre, decor is dated and ofcourse food and spirits overpriced. They served my 8$ fries without the aioli.... my husband had to walk to our waitress after 10 minutes of no interaction to relay this...so I sent them back. When I politely addressed my concern and disappointment with the owner before leaving they made no offer to make it right or offer a discount or future discount...not that I would have come back unless free or significantly discounted. It isn't worth the price...needs a face-lift and better hospitality. You can definitely find a better space to celebrate than Crush. Not impressed. We made reservations and not living in the area didn't know about all the construction in the streets and had to park several blocks away in the freezing cold. It would have been proper for them to tell us when we made the reservations that there was major construction. The food was fine but way overpriced for what you got. There were 9 people but we all ordered separately and at the end were all charged a 20 percent gratuity fee even though we were never told about it. It was my daughter and son in laws birthday and the waitress knew about my daughter's but the manager didn't even come over to say hello, wish her a happy birthday or ask us how our meals were. My daughter also ordered fries that came with a sauce and never received the sauce. All in all look at the prices and if coming with more people except a 20 percent gratuity fee. We are already overpaying for the food, I don't think we should have to pay the waitresses wages for the owners.
