We stayed for 5 days in the Block-Vatne suite which o... read more A very charming hotel with pleasant staff. We felt welcome from the first moment and were warmly welcomed. We stayed for 5 days in the Block-Vatne suite which offered everything we needed. The whole hotel was very clean and the garden was well kept. The dinner tasted excellent, but unfortunately there was little choice and the menu, which consisted of three dishes, was changed every other day. Something that gets boring when you stay at the hotel for several days. We experienced the same with the breakfast buffet. Very good that they offer local food, but the selection was poor. We think that you shouldn't have a lot on the buffet, but it would have been nice to have some variety, so that you don't have to eat the same bread or toppings for several days.

But the food they serve is of high quality and in the past Norway's Bocuse D'or participants have used Kronen Gaard as a base for their preparations for the competition. This has a positive effect on the food overall. Pleasant service and old-fashioned respectable style. The fact that it is old also has its downsides, it is sometimes drafty, cold in winter and hot in summer. The location a bit outside the center is also a bit unfortunate, but there are buses passing by regularly, should you wish to drink alcohol.
