In the recent spate of re built beach bars trying to be restaurants, it is refreshing that Chiringuito Carrero remains true to it's roots with no pretension. We loved everything about this place. Very friendly attentive staff. Good prices and portion sizes. My partner had the octopus legs and I the sardines, both cooked on the BBQ...absolutely fantastic. We had a table close to the sea at 22:30...bliss
Many years ago there was a very popular restaurant bar Pepe in Torreguadiaro which closed and eventually after several different guises) became Pura Tapa. Bar Pepe was a great loss but the same fresh, quality fish excellently prepared can be found at chiringuito Carrero. We regularly visit Torreguadiaro in the winter when it is closed) but on this occasion we were able to enjoy a lunchtime feast in the sun. The entremeses were a selection of tapas all fresh) and would have been sufficient as a starter for 4. The salad Carrero comprised of fresh fruit orange, strawberry, kiwi fruit, Apple, pear, mango and melon on a bed of lettuce, topped with 4 prawns. Excellent, very refreshing And would again have served 4. The pez espada was simply served with lettuce tomato but was perfectly cooked as were the White gambas a la plancha. With a couple of very acceptable deserts, coffees and glasses of wine the bill came to 60 euros for the two of us. Service was efficient and being a beach front restaurant it was popular with families. Fresh fish sardines, octopus etc) are grilled on the barbecue in the traditional way at the weekends and daily in season. Highly recommended.
A more traditional, less stylish place than others on the beach, but that is no bad thing. The food was fresh and delicious and the service friendly.
