Bistro Escondido - SAN PATRICIO

Everything we tried here was amazing. Burgers, fish and chips, coconut shrimp...everything. Margaritas are great and the staff was awesome. Will definitely go back next year!!

This nice place was recommended to me by a friend and it was well worth looking for. The owner's name is Ariana. Maybe a 10-15 minute walk from the main part of Melaque. The restaurant is tucked back against a lot of trees and green space. The tables are in a lovely outdoor courtyard covered with trellis' and vines. There is a pool that you can use if you eat at the restaurant or can just pay a small amount and come to swim. We ate there twice during my week long stay and I will definitely go again. The food is very good and changes but do try the hamburger, any seafood item and the pork chops. The drinks are good too. I had Sangria and my friends had Mai Tais and beer. We also had great fish and chips which I recommend if they are on the menu. The restaurant is open from 2:00PM-10:00PM and closed on Wednesday. Google the address for walking directions. Dogs are welcome too.

My husband and I love it here. It is off the beach and Main Street, but what a lovely garden and poolside setting (yes, you can swim in the pool...go early and make an afternoon of it). The food is delicious, inexpensive and very good portions. The owner, Arianna, is welcoming and witty. She speaks perfect English and makes a mean margarita. The meals feature home grown herbs and fruit from the garden. My favourites are the blue cheese burger, coconut shrimp and brochette. We go at least once a week and have all our celebrations here. She will also do private pool parties.
