What User likes about Upper Crust Trattoria:
I'm a hard critic when it comes to Italian food. We usually do not eat Italian because we come from an Italian family, where everything is from the ground to the home. We visited the area for a few days and after several recommendations we tried. We are so happy! The best Italian food we've ever eaten! We even went back the night before we drove home to eat lasagna again! If you want Italian food, you must try it! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Upper Crust Trattoria:
I have visited the restaurant over the last 8 years, but less frequently from year to year. It's been 2 years since my last visit. Each time I am disappointed in the primarily the service, although I have noticed a decline in the food value for the price(lunch). I have hoped the service would improve each time I visit, but it's average. Wait time is sometimes very long as well. I don't think I will return. View all feedback.
Fresh flavors, charming atmosphere. The house-made dressings on the salads, including both beet and apple, are excellent. The crust on the dishes is beautiful and pairs perfectly with a local wine. The food is good and definitely worth a weekly visit. The menu offers a large selection to choose from.
As a tough critic of Italian cuisine, I usually steer clear of Italian restaurants because I come from an Italian family where everything is made from scratch. However, during our recent visit to the area, we decided to give it a try based on multiple recommendations. And we were pleasantly surprised! It was hands down the best Italian food we have ever had. We enjoyed it so much that we even made a return visit the night before we left just to have their delicious lasagna again. If you're craving authentic Italian food, this place is a must-try!
That was our second time in this restaurant. Our server, Katy, was excellent. She was kind and helpful. There was a big mishap with our meal. Two of the parties ordered pizzas, and the third, a pig's stall. The pizzas were served with the pork chop hung in the lively kitchen. The front of the house manager had quickly come to Katy's help and offers free glasses of wine. The pork was finally served and was very tasty. I praise the restaurant for handling this situation. We will definitely return.
I have been fortunate enough to dine at Upper Crust for many years, even before it relocated to its present location. I have never been let down. With Pat now serving as one of the managers, the experience is even more enjoyable. I may not be a connoisseur or food enthusiast, but I know that I always enjoy dining here, and you will too.
A nice change of venue in SLO. Decent portions, not too much pasta like some places tend to do. (Still, the tomato basil angel hair with pomodoro is a bit heavy with angel hair pasta... adding goat cheese is strong recommendation. Also recommended, the penne rustica. Service was OK, not particularly attentive, but timely.
