Debbie did the catering for our son's wedding this last Saturday. OMG!! The food was AMAZING and the staff was so pleasant and accommodating. We starting with appetizers of coconut shrimp, bacon wrapped filet bruschetta. All of them were so delicious! Our dinner started with an absolutely scrumptious Arugula Salad with organic roasted golden beets, sliced Pink Lady apples, roasted pistachios and a homemade Champagne vinaigrette with goat cheese. I could have just had that salad for my dinner been pleased. Then we had a choice of prime rib or halibut. The portions were HUGE and everything came out hot and so tasty. I don't post on Yelp often but I just had to this time as I have never had such a wonderful catered meal. Debbie made our son's wedding extra special and I can't thank her and her staff enough. I highly recommend her services for any event you might have. You will not be disappointed!
After the tasting that we did with Debbie, we immediately knew that we wanted her to cater our wedding. The quality of the food and the level of preparation speaks to Debbie's expertise and talent. She is very thoughtful and intentional about where her food comes from, mostly buying locally. She was able to provide a team of people to set up, serve, bartend, and clean up. She and her team provided seamless service that made for an experience that our guests are still talking about. Throughout the process, Debbie talked with us about what to expect and worked with our needs and budget. She does not provide rentals herself, so that is an extra cost to consider if you work with Delicious by Debbie. Both at the tasting and the wedding we also got to meet Daniel, a graduate of her culinary school. He made us feel taken care of and made sure that we had everything we needed that day. We commend her for training and hiring new generations of culinary professionals that value quality. If you are looking for delicious, quality food that is presented beautifully, we highly recommend Delicious by Debbie.
We had a fun evening at Central Coast Culinary, doing one of their popular Trader Joe's cooking classes. It was the first time we were here, and from the description online I thought this would be a hands on class, where you learn new kitchen skills and prepare meals with a chef's instruction. This is NOT what these classes are! You come in and sit around the bar looking into an open kitchen environment where volunteers prepare the meals for you. Adjusting our expectations quickly, we still had a lot of fun at this dining event. We received the recipes for the eight or so dishes that were presented during the class, our favorites were the seared salmon with Miso honey sauce, shrimp and basil stir fry, stuffed tomatoes with goat cheese and zucchini, skillet tortellini with crispy prosciutto and spring vegetables, pan roasted filets mignon with asparagus and the strawberry rhubarb crumble. You can bring your own wine, too. Chef Debbie narrates all dishes, provides tips on what to look out for when you're shopping for ingredients and gives instruction to the volunteers that so all the prepping, cooking and cleaning. I wish Debbie would use a microphone, as she mostly sat on the other side of the bar, and we had a hard time hearing her sometimes. When dishes are ready, they are passed down the bar in huge serving dishes, so you can take as little or as much as you like of each of the dishes. I would recommend the meals are put in smaller serving bowls/platters and multiple are being passed to the attendees. When you're at the end of the line, you might otherwise not get much of the food, or you're left with scraps. The serving platters were way to big, and uncomfortable to pass around. Also, please get tongs to make it easier to pass out the food especially the pasta or asparagus. All in all a fun date night, we were full with delicious food and received some great tips during the night. Would I go again for $75 per person? Unlikely, I really missed hands on instruction, and think it's too pricey for us to do on a regular basis.
