Mama Lupe's Cocina - San Leandro

The Best Dining Experience! I've been enjoying meals here since before I was even born, and for the past 25-26 years, I've been a regular visitor whenever I can. Although I now live about 100 miles away, I try to make the drive once a week because nothing compares to the comfort of home-cooked meals. The quality is always consistent, and the prices are some of the best you'll find. The food is incredible, and I always leave satisfied, having never encountered a dish I didn't love. Whenever I dine out, I measure every restaurant against Mama Lupe's. Their salsa is simply unbeatable!

The food and service were quite good during our visit, and it wasn't very busy at the time. I ordered a shrimp dish that came drenched in a rich sauce. However, I found it a bit inconvenient that the shrimp still had their tails on, making it messy to remove them while the dish was still hot. That said, the flavor was excellent. I would be open to trying them again with a more traditional meal.

Our family has been exploring all the Mexican restaurants in San Leandro, and I’ve been keeping an eye on this one for a while on Instagram. Why did we wait so long to try it? This place is truly a gem! The food is absolutely amazing and packed with flavor. You can tell it’s made with love, heart, and soul. The music is fantastic, and the staff goes above and beyond. You can really feel their passion for the restaurant and their community. I can’t wait to go back and sample more from the menu. We almost ordered everything—it was so good that we forgot to take any pictures of our food!

After that tasty start, we eagerly anticipated our main courses, which included an enchilada plate, a quesadilla, and a grilled chicken burrito drenched in their house green sauce. Everything we tried was fantastic, but my absolute favorite was the green sauce on the burrito. It was light and full of flavor, with just the right amount of spice to give it a kick. The remodel looks amazing! You have to see the bar top – it's such a unique and personal touch that makes your visit extra special. The ADA-compliant restrooms are clean, modern, and feature lovely tile, plus the cutest little sinks! I can’t wait to return for another meal. We will definitely be back soon!

This restaurant was simply fantastic. The staff and owners are incredibly friendly and make you feel welcome as soon as you enter. The recently renovated space features a bar with a full liquor license and an enticing menu. I found myself struggling for about 10 minutes to decide what to order because everything sounded so appealing. They offer classic Mexican dishes, all of which are outstanding. The salsa served with the chips was so delicious that I could have drunk it, and I ended up putting it on nearly everything. While enjoying a tasty margarita, I opted for the fish taco platter, which was nothing short of amazing. I highly recommend this place and plan to return soon!
