One of the oldest taquerias in San Jose nestled in Willow Glen. Burritos and tacos are great and seafood and other plates also offered. Free chips and salsa are always a plus don't forget to grab a Mexican Coke highly recommend View all feedback.
What Raymond Cabacungan doesn't like about Taqueria El Abuelo:
I ordered a large carne asada quesadilla (which was not very big) and 2 el pastor tacos. The carne asada meat was not seasoned well and my plate was watery, causing my quesadilla to become soggy. The el pastor meat was dry, but the flavor was decent. Overall, it was not what I had anticipated. View all feedback.
Parking in the rear of the restaurant. Kid friendly. Outdoor seating available. Love the Menudo!! Salsa bar and fresh tortillas chips. Food is very fresh and generous portions. Huge menu that ranges from breakfast items to fresh seafood and soup. I highly recommend it.
Delicious homestyle hand made food, made to order. It's a bit of a dive, looks like a neighborhood taqueria with Formica tables and plain wooden chairs, tv playing Mexican soap operas, constant, loud Mexican music. But it does seem clean, other than the nasty air conditioning unit has on the ceiling. You order at the counter. There is a large menu but on the wall opposite the counter there is a picture menu. There is a vegetarian menu but not a vegan menu. They also have a seafood menu. Prices start at $5.00 for an a la cart enchilada. A cheese enchilada plate is $14.95, which includes 3 enchiladas, beans, rice, salsa, and guacamole. They are friendly. Service is fast. They offer soft drinks, beer, and Michaladas.
Found this spot this week, already been twice. All the meats are really good. Highly recommend for good Mexican food.

I have been going to Taqueria El Abuelo for over 15 years. Food always good. I usually go there for lunch and take to go. Highly recommended authentic Mexican food!
