Was opilicious at Com Tam Dat Thanh a mag?
If you prefer dining in clean, highly rated restaurants, I would suggest avoiding this place. However, my review is solely based on the food. I have only tried their broken rice plates, which feature cracked or damaged rice grains that have the same taste but a different texture. It is definitely worth giving a try. Although I cannot recall the specific name of the dish I had ordered (given the numerous combination o... View all feedback.
What Leilani Q dislikes about Com Tam Dat Thanh:
Was craving a broken rice plate and this did the job! Not mind blowing, but not bad. Pretty good texture of rice and my favorite is always shrimp paste. I like being able to make my fish sauce spicy or not spicy. I accidentally put too much spicy, a little goes a long ways!Service was quick and easy#19: grilled pork chop and shrimp paste on sugarcaneGave a decent amount of food with a good ratio of rice to meat. I've been dining at Com Tam Dat Thanh for as long as I could remember. Not to date myself but I remember eating here as young as 10 years old so this place has been here for at least 25 years. Post COVID reflection is that if a small business was able to keep afloat during such a challenging time in the decade then it should speak for itself in how the community shows up for it. Most recently, we ordered a few items ToGo. Portion sizes were relatively generous giving how the prices have increased so significantly. We ordered the BBQ Pork Chop Special, BBQ Chicken Special, and the BBQ Beef Special. Flavors were on point as always, and the Shrimp Cake and Egg Cakes always seem to bring in a nostalgic feeling. Hits the spot every time and it never fails.Support local small businesses y'all they can only continue thriving this way.
Stopped by this little hole in the wall for some com tam rice plates, and I was actually blown away with how authentic and comforting everything I tried was. I'm not a super big fan of rice so I rarely frequent these spots, but you definitely can't beat their HUGE portions and deliciously grilled/fried meat items. My favorites were the fried shrimp paste, but my plate also came with 5 other types of meat as well as vegetables and complimentary Thai chilis fish sauce at the table. They also carry other traditional Vietnamese dishes such as hu tieu (my fave), so I'll have to definitely check that out next time! The bathroom and utensils could definitely be cleaner, but overall, definitely worth stopping by or getting takeout if you're craving a rice dish and want to get the bang for your buck!
The Vietnamese food at this restaurant is authentic and delicious. The chili is hand-crushed, giving it a spicy kick that you can really feel!
This restaurant has been in business for a long time, serving the same traditional Com Tam dishes. It is known as the go-to spot in the Bay area for delicious broken rice with grilled sides. Their menu offers a variety of side combinations, so be sure to try them all!
I order pick up from this restaurant, one of the best broken rice I ever had!!
