Amazing meal with fresh ingredients and interesting combinations of ingredients. The Fry Bread with burrata was delicious. Nice wine list and we enjoyed a lovely French Chenin Blanc. Our server was attentive yet subtle and wine glasses kept nicely filled. Nice tunes but music volume should be lower. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Penny Roma:
Recently opened.... pasta very good.... service and décor very pleasant.... parking on street nearby.... noise level very high with loud music preventing conversation and impairing communication with wait staff...high decibels is what management is going for apparently. Noise degrades the experience. Might return if it were quieter. View all feedback.
Great service, good atmosphere, somewhat cold after they open the ceiling. Great beef steak and great pasta. I wish there was a little more change on Desserts.
Fun and energetic atmosphere. Many great options on the menu. Best to go with a large group, so you can get a number of articles (as we did). Interesting aromas on some of the pastas but overall a good meal and experience!
Favorite Italian in SF. Stylish decor, friendly staff and easy to find parking as well. We got a few appetizers and every pasta on the menu. Can be tough to get a reservation but Resy is your friend here. Would highly recommend it!
The dishes we ordered were so well executed! Totally surprised and amazed by the chicken super juicy and tender. And the pasta is super amazing too. Plus the indoor decor is really cute. Absolutely love this place
I recently got married and wanted to host a small and intimate dinner celebration for around 30 guests. I originally was interested in the sister restaurant, Flour Water but the maximum capacity for seated dinner is 14 guests. The event manager, Mac, referred me to Penny Roma's The Upstairs, with the maximum capacity of 32 guests, and sent over menu and pictures of the event space. Mac and his team set up the balloons exactly how I want it and I also added my own floral arrangements when I got to the space. Overall, I am very satisfied and happy that I had the dinner celebration here! For the event space, it comes with a set menu of table snacks, a couple of appetizers, pasta, meat, salad, and lastly dessert. The portion of the food is plenty for each guest. Our favorite dish of the day was definitely the halibut crudo, it was really fresh and was a great started to the meal. I also really enjoyed the pork chops, it was really tender and the flavor was not overpowering. Tip: for the menu, you can work with them to customize and they will do their best to fulfill it! I highly recommend The Upstairs for private events, it is intimate and I love the industrial design and open windows of the space. I also enjoy the food there as well.
