What Doc C doesn't like about Oma San Francisco Station:
I received multiple emails and messages reminding me not to miss my reservation, yet we were seated late. I ordered sake, but it arrived much later in the meal. I left a custom 10% tip due to the subpar service. Then I got a call stating there was a network issue with my payment and they asked for my credit card, telling me that a 20% gratuity would be added even though I intended to tip less. I won't be returning. View all feedback.
All dishes were well executed. Portion sizes were kinda small. I could eat another tray of takoyaki after the meal. I ordered the middle price option which I did not regret. I didn’t care for the extras that come with the more expensive one (beef, uni, duck and a few others).

We ordered the negi toro hand roll (which was stellar, the perfect combination of umami sweet, salty, and fresh , hotate (scallop was delicious with a touch of citrus , and ama ebi (sweet and creamy, I just wish it included the deep fried head hehe
It was very intimate; the chef actually refused to see other customers without reservations while we were around to have that one-on-one feel between him and the customer. He explained the dish/seafood, his own comments, and where it came from. We ended up paying a total of around $350 with tax and tip. We got the secret menu omakase and had 20 courses (no dessert) but got 2 extra Santa Barbara uni nigiri (we had to because that was one of the best we've had). Overall, the sushi was great! Definitely high quality and more flavorful than your average sushi place. But was it foodgasm kind of good for that price? Tbh, I'm not sure. I feel like the sushi's potential wasn't fully reached. Would love to come here again though! Also, please be polite and stop at the podium first. Don't just sit down without even asking
Amazing sushi. So delicious! And they change their menu seasonally. Make sure we can get the freshest fish/seafood. Can't wait to dine in again.
Pretty disappointing omakase experience given the price. The food portions were okay and general food quality was good. There were certain warm dishes that were actually prepared a bit earlier and sat out a bit so by the time it was served, it was lukewarm. The chef was not very clear and mumbled when talking about each course. The seats were seated very tightly that I was bumping arms with the party next to me. Our party of 4 was asked to tip 20% for some reason. The experience felt like an omakase in the $40-60 range, but definitely not $100+
