I came to this restaurant with a group of 5 while on vacation to treat my daughter who loves the ocean. It was absolutely stunning! The only other place I have seen that compares is in Epcot in Florida, specifically the fake Mexico pavilion. The food was fantastic with live music, outdoor heating, and beautiful decorations. I also loved the small shops around the restaurant. If I lived closer, this would definitely b... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Tienda De Reyes:
If someone is looking for a restaurant with a great atmosphere and expensive drinks, then this is the place for them. However, the food is overpriced and mediocre at best. The fajitas were bland, the stuffed shrimp was cut unimpressive, and the sides of beans and rice were also lacking flavor. We were given complimentary chips, but were charged for salsa on our bill. Two entrees, a couple of drinks, and tip ended up... View all feedback.
Nice terrace eating, attentive staff, good selection on the menu, entertainment on the stage and good eating.
Super delicious Mexican food with a HUGE patio, really great service, and a fun aesthetic/atmosphere. We loved this place!
We ate here during our family vacation to San Diego. There were eight of us and we were able to get right in. Nice atmosphere with outdoor seating. Large menu. I had the carnitas' plate and it was very good. We all enjoyed our lunch and our waitress was friendly and very business like. We were surprised at the bill when it came. There was a Covid 19 tax included and after we added the gratuity, the bill was almost $230? We only had tea and soda's, no alcohol. We thought that was a little excessive.
Ate dinner here June 6, 2021. Was surprised to see printed on their menu a notice that an automatic 4% “covid” surcharge would be added to dinner total. The restaurant was completely filled with customers. Tables were not spaced apart. It was business as usual. We asked our server if the restaurant was completely staffed at pre-covid levels or if they were still understaffed. He said they have been fully staffed for a while and that entire staff was vaccinated as well. Such a surcharge might seem reasonable during the pandemic, but is completely unjustified now. Atmosphere was fun and enjoyable as always. Service was good. Food was marginal at best.
I know, Casa De Reyes is smack in the middle of one of the most touristy centers of San Diego. But its a gosh darn lovely tourist trap to stuck in while enjoying margaritas, a free bowl of chips and salsa, a plate of tasty Mexican food, and listening to the lovely music of a local mariachi band. The outdoor ambiance is just too good to ignore on typical gorgeous San Diego afternoon, or a balmy evening during spring, summer, and fall. Is the food authentic? After eating Mexican food for over 40 years, I think its close enough, and its all really good! $16.50 for a 2 item combo, or $17.50 for 3 item combo. If you're not good at math, just know you should really get the 3 item combo. Comes with your choice of tacos, enchiladas, tamales, with different meat choices. Rice and beans included of course! I highly recommend the shrimp enchilada, beef enchilada, beef taco, and pork tamale, and you can just ignore me because everything is good. One final note, you definitely want to be here for Dio De Los Muertes...the decorations, costumes, music, dance entertainment, and energy is amazing!
