The food was amazing! We took our boys there and we were able to finish most of the food. Service was great even though we went during a busy time. Love this place and location View all feedback.
What Guy Lehmann doesn't like about Great Maple La Jolla Utc:
They closed the restaurant, so I'm not sure if our experience was affected by that. My husband found eggshells in his food twice, and my meal was bland with no flavor. Overall, it was not a good experience, especially compared to our usual visits. View all feedback.
Love the menu. Love the food. The place is super noisy so hard to hear carry on a conversation. Our server was very nice but hardly checked on us we had to track her down when one person in our party didn't get their food then again when we had been ready for a while for the check. Sadly it looks like this location is closing later this month
The service was incredibly slow, and the food took a long time to arrive. Overall, it was not a great experience.
After about 10 minutes, we felt quite uncomfortable, especially when we noticed that she seemed to be directing all Hispanic guests to sit outside. I was shocked to realize that the restaurant displayed such prejudice. Determined to resolve the situation, we approached another hostess—this one was much friendlier. Upon hearing our concerns about the cold and our reservation at the bar, she quickly found us a table inside. The server we had was wonderful, and she really turned our experience around. Unfortunately, the food was lackluster today; the French toast was dry and barely had any bacon or blueberries. Overall, it was a disappointing breakfast, but I truly appreciated the attentiveness and kindness of our server.
The grilled bread had some char marks, but again, no real grill flavor—more like a slice pulled straight from the counter than anything special. My daughter, who had been here before, enjoyed the silver dollar pancakes, but she said they were nothing extraordinary. On the positive side, the service was excellent. However, based on the food alone, I don't see a strong reason to come back. I might be tempted again due to the positive feedback from others, but after my experience today, I'm hesitant. Next time, I might try some of the decadent-looking dishes that seem to be getting all the praise. Oh, and I did enjoy the baba; it was quite good.
Poached eggs came out hard boiled, took 15 minutes to get replacements. Not work the $24.00.
