We had a delightful Saturday brunch at Farmer Seahorse, which is situated on the top floor of the Alexandria in the biotechnology research park, right across from the Torrey Pines Golf Course. The restaurant is spacious, featuring a large outdoor terrace, a playground, and even an antique McCormick Farm tractor—such a unique touch! They offer generous portions, a variety of menu options, and reasonable prices (consid... View all feedback.
We had made about 10 reservations for a party of 16, and we ended up all sitting together at one table, while two of our friends were at another table. After about two hours, we were asked to leave our table for a different party, so we spent the remaining two hours hanging out in chairs on the grass. The atmosphere was lovely, with ample shade and a great vibe. For the meal, I was torn between the Lobster Benedict ($32) and the Short Rib Benedict ($29). The prices here lean toward the higher side, and since I didn’t want to spend that much on lobster, I opted for the Short Rib. You could choose between fries, potatoes, or greens as a side, and I chose the greens. However, our server didn’t check with everyone, so some of us ended up with fries as the default; they were switched to greens only once they arrived at the table. For my drink, I had the Lychee Rum, which was sweet and fruity with a nice kick, especially on an empty stomach. Just a heads-up: they don’t split bills and automatically add a 20% tip, so it’s wise to bring cash or use Venmo to settle up with each other. Overall, this place is a fantastic spot, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere!
Super tasty food. The portions weren’t huge, but they were filling and very well seasoned. Lovely location, quiet, peaceful.
Great service and food! We had the lobster roll and the Wagyu burger. Both were tender with fresh bread. The lobster roll had lots of lobster which was great, very little stuffing or mayonaise. The Wagyu burger was juicy and nicely done on medium . Save room for the truffle fries!
Awesome venue in a bit of a strange location. Lots of available parking. Great restaurant for large groups as well. Service was excellent, the Blueberry Stracciatella was fabulous. Nutty Professor alcohol free beverages were great. Would not recommend Chiaquiles as the portion was smaller than expected. A must do when in San Diego.
We have been to lunch/brunch at Farmer and the Seahorse three times (and tried several more times). We love the place--it is hopping, the servers are great, and the vibe is wonderful. We have had three dishes during our visits. Two were unbelievably good--the lobster benedict, and the beet-cured salmon. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars this time was the blue crab Louie salad. Most of the dishes at F and S are delightful to look at; this salad was not. We expected halves or quarters of hard boiled egg, slices or halves of tomato, and pieces of crab. We got a pile of lettuce with shredded crab and a few bits of egg and tomato mixed in. The butter lettuce was fresh and good, but there was way too much of it. The dressing was good--but not enough. Worst of all, the crab had fishy bits. Shreds of frozen or jarred crab is not worthy of this place. We will be back though ! There are lots of other things we are waiting to try. O
